Jermaine O'Neal Did NOT Ask for a Trade

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">
Jermaine O'Neal said in an interview Wednesday that he has spoken with Pacers CEO Donnie Walsh once since the season ended, but trade talk never entered the conversation. He said there is nothing to reports that he's pushing to be reunited with his old coach Isiah Thomas at the New York Knicks .

"That's just somebody that's putting out speculation," O'Neal told The Associated Press. "That didn't come from the Pacers, and that didn't come from me."

O'Neal was close to Thomas when he coached the Pacers, before he was fired four years ago in favour of Carlisle. O'Neal acknowledges that he could be traded but denied a Chicago Tribune report that he had made such a request.

"They gave me the opportunity to build my name and status in this league," O'Neal said of the Pacers. "It's disrespectful to them to be commenting about it. I haven't made any demands or anything like that.

"There's not going to be anymore speculation," he said. "It's all going to be false speculation. I'm going to let the process take its course.</div>

You can't take any side seriously. If Jermaine really does want out, he's not going to publicly demand a trade like Artest. All players say "I love it here in [insert city]. This organization has been great to me, etc."

Isiah Thomas and Jermaine are actually very close. In fact, when Jermaine was a free agent a couple of years ago, he said the only way he will re-sign with Indiana is if Isiah gets an extension as head coach. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the Pacers lied to him and signed Rick Carlisle after they signed Jermaine O'Neal. But like I said, they are pretty close and even in an interview Isiah said Jermaine was like a son to him, or something of that nature. I'm not saying this rumor is likely to happen but it is a rumor which has some substance to it.

New York is considered the mecca of basketball and it's also a great place to live. The Knicks aren't a bad team either. They could have very well been in the playoffs if they weren't decimated by injuries. No one wants to play for the Knicks? That's funny since Chris Webber said he wants to play for the Knicks.

Also Starbury said that he didn't want to get traded from the knicks when he came on the team.

    And just like that,
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Warriors' Stephen Jackson, former teammates with Jermaine O'Neal of the Pacers, told the media he thinks O'Neal wants to be traded.

"I don't think he has any patience (left), but Jermaine is the ultimate professional," said Jackson.

Whether O'Neal has demanded or requested a trade in his discussions with Pacers management may simply be a matter of semantics. Los Angeles and New York are thought to be the 6-11 All-Star's preferred destinations.

"I talked to him a while back, and he was saying that if he did get traded he would want to go to those two teams," Jackson said. "Isiah and Jermaine are good friends. If it does happen, look out East. Him and (Eddy) Curry in the paint are going to be a monster. But him and Kobe will be a monster, too."

Playing in NY, in MSG is a huge reason why players want to play with the Knicks.
