Watched a couple innings of that fiasco. I think Calloway could have a very short season if the NY National Team gets off to a bad start. I'd say the hiring of Riggleman as bench coach sent a not so subtle message to Calloway infering if the Team doesn't shape up he (Calloway) will be shipped out. I'd say that Martinez down in DC is in the same boat. Every year we hear how the "Nats" will win and they really came up short last season. For all they didn't do Atlanta could still be the class of that division. The season will be interesting in the NL East.
Remember Al Leiter left the Yankee booth..........well, he left it for a higher paying job as baseball operations adviser to the New York Mets.

Because the Yankees are out of options on Luis Cessa & Tommy Kahnle, the Yankees may have to keep both on the squad or they would be exposed to waivers & surely picked up by other teams. And yet, the more talented Domingo German will be sent down because he still has options for 2019. Yankee GM called up & sent down Cessa like a yo-yo and the kid never showed he was ready to pitch on the parent club. And in my opinion, he still has not shown he’s ready. Yet, Cashman does not want to lose this kid, nor Kahnle. What does Cashman see that we already know?
Most likely cause by the strain imposed when one lifts a heavier wallet caused by new deals from their pocket. Come on Luis, damn you can do better than that.
From t/NY Post- TAMPA — The Braves-Yankees spring training game on Tuesday was delayed by seven minutes while the Yankees prepared Stephen Tarpley to take Luis Severino’s start. The Yankees announced in the top of the first inning that Severino, the staff ace who was supposed to make his first exhibition start, was scratched due to right shoulder discomfort and that he would be evaluated later in the day. No explanation was immediately given as to when the discomfort invaded Severino’s shoulder or how. Yet the words “shoulder discomfort’’ are never comforting when it comes to a pitcher. Severino is 33-14 with a 3.18 ERA in the past two seasons, when he made 63 starts. With CC Sabathia already sidelined for the first five games due to a suspension, and possibly longer if the Yankees decide his surgically repaired right knee needs more time, the Yankees can’t afford to lose Severino for an extended stretch.
Tarpley seems to have a bit of talent lets see what happens. Yankees are winning the game but that 1/6 with RISP flat out sucks. A bad habit from last yearn that need not be repeated.
Before spring training began I always thought the team was one short of a starter......if this Severino problem escalates to something worse, right out of the box they are in trouble.
