I question this take? He certainly did not set good screens vs the Kings. He leans into them and tries too hard to protect himself. The refs are seeing it and he is getting called for it. On top of that after setting the screen he looks to be slower on the roll so he is less effective as a scoring threat.
We all want Nurk to get better and have good games. Lets hope so far what we have seen isn't what he shows the rest of the way.

I hate his softness so much that I don’t care. I don’t like watching him play. I’m sure he sets great screens and is better defensively than others in the paint. So he should play. But I wish some coach and some point would bench his ass when he is soft and avoids contact or throws a lazy pass. How else will he ever clean it up.

I'm a gigantic fan of Sharpe and I'm not opposed to Chauncey experimenting with Sharpe at the 3 to start and bring Hart as 6th man to spell 1-3 as needed. That said, to say he's better than future HOF player Damian Lillard is just madness. Could he END UP being better? Amazingly, yes. Is he better now? Come on! Unless the Dame haters are right and Dame has lost his first step and can't shoot because of the surgery and it's not just rust (btw it is absolutely rust!) there is no way Sharpe is the best player on the team. He's probably not even better than Ant right now, or Grant. I think you're really stretching to say he's better than Hart even. So 5th best on the team? Possibly and that's high praise. Could he end up being the best? Maybe, but I doubt that happens for another few seasons and again, I think Sharpe has Superstar potential and believe he's the real deal.

I am torn on this. A lot of it I agree with. He does often throw lazy passes, it drives me crazy. And yes he often lays it up when he should dunk. But there are other times when he just is too far away to dunk it. I just don't consider him soft. Sure he avoids contact, that makes sense because he has been whistled for so many offensive fouls.

The key for me has always been I just want him to play under control. Don't try to do too much and don't just throw the ball at the basket and flop to the floor expecting a call. He clearly will not get very many of those calls. But overall I don't view him as soft, not on D anyways. We need his physicality.

Stop the scouting tape, this kid needs to be locked away (Get him)
Big game Dame, don't just stand there, operate!
They say I'm not ready to start, it's too scary when I ball
I'll have to be carried inside the Hall of Fame and all my votes will have them buried alive
    (Huh, yup)
Am I comin' or goin'? I can barely decide
I got a 48-inch vert, dare me to drive? (Go ahead)
All my life I was very deprived
I ain't played a game in years and my skills are too scary to hide (Whoops)
Clothes ripped like the Incredible Hulk
I spit truth when I talk trash, I'll dunk on anything that walks (Come here)
When I was little, I used to get so angry at the rim I would throw fits
How you gonna guard me, guy? You ain't got no digs!
I lay awake and strap myself in the bed
With a bulletproof skillset and shoot myself into the game (Bang)
    'Cause I'm steamin' mad (Grr)
And by the way, when you see the old guard (Yeah?)
Tell them that I slit they throat in this dream I had

    [Chorus]
Hi, my name is, what? My name is, who?
My name is, chka-chka, Rim Shaedy
Hi, my name is, huh? My name is, what?
My name is, chka-chka, , Rim Shaedy

If only we had swapped out Sharpe production for Dame tonight.

Sharpe could be the best player quick in teams like the Spurs where he'd get the playing time and green light. With us, it'll take him a while. He'll get there eventually.

That's what Chauncey did in game one. Nurkic responded by going 6-9 from 2pt, 8-9 from the FT line, and posting 20 & 17 with good defense.

Well, that didn't take long. I guess if we go by the logic of this board and the never failed us before sample size, he should be the 15th man.

i was watching the game thinking, “ohh man im gonna get roasted on the forum”. Lol.
Kid will be fine. With Dame as a tutor, Billups emphasizing defense and the fact he doesn't have to be thrown into the fire every night, he will blossom.
Still sticking with my bold prediction that he is the second best player and a starter on this team by the end of the season.

I think he'll have games like this for a while, and games like he did against the Kings. It's too early to make any declarations about his game/career, but you can definitely see a lot more positives in his game than negatives.

And the thing is, last nights issues (the fouls) are totally, 100, teachable moments. He didn't look like a deer in the headlights out there (he has as of yet, looked that way). It's just he didn't have the muscle memory/memory of what to do in situations like he was in last night.

Some people *have* over-reacted to his performances so far, and that's causing a weird faux anti-sharpe backlash.

I'm just going to enjoy his growth, and have fun watching him play. I'm also not going to take games like last night too seriously, just as I didn't take games like the one against the Kings too seriously. Overall, his production/growth has been positive, and in the right direction.
