100% agree overall. great reasonable take.
I just think that positive direction is going to gain momentum like a gieger counter.
I will say this. The only thing left im really not sure Bout is bow aggressive he will have his game settle into.
Right now i could see anything from a Batum career to a Kobe career and i think most of what the difference will be is all I'm his head. Mentality. Can he get his mental motor up to game speed and how aggressive will his normal game settle into? I know his role is to camp and slash, but i want him to want more. Hard to tell on that right now because I’m sure coach has him tempered to not try to do too much.

He won't start all sign (unless there are injuries). He won't be the 2nd best player this year. Name the overall metric, and I'll bet you he isn't even top 3 on the team.

That doesn't mean he won't be good down the road though!

Another player to look at their first season (compared to how they are now) is Giannis.

I was in Milwaukee a lot when they drafted him and there was much skepticism, more so than with Shae, but it did't take long for everyone to embrace him and not just because of his potential skill set but also his personality.

Are you purposely looking at MVP Hall of Fame players? Just curious. Like why not Kontavious Caldwell Pope?

An optimistic hot take. He would have to be ROY for that to happen

That’s EXACTLY what I posted somewhere on here. I don’t get pumped up off his first game and not down after last night. Kids fresh out of HS. And 1/2 way thru the season isn’t nearly enough time to judge. Give him a couple years like I said when we drafted him. Just like Ant.

You're the one who brought up a player in the first place.

My point is that you can't take anything from 2 games.

Travis Outlaw had loads of talent, but he was never the best player on Portland’s roster. Not even close. There’s a huge difference between being talented and being the best player on a team.

Would you rather have Ayton for twice the cost?

That’s how we need to judge Nurk—whether or not he wins his matchup every night. Nurk had a terrible game 1, but Sabonis didn’t go off. In game 2, Nurk and Ayton pretty much cancelled each other out.

Really, it’s been a wash so far through two games (not a huge stretch to say imo), and I’d rather have Nurk at his contract vs Ayton at his contract or Sabonis at the contract he will command after next summer.

I didn’t choose future HOF players though. Why would you compare this random kid’s career path with them.

Because going off of a super small sample size is idiotic, since it shows nothing about what their careers will be.

I thought that was pretty clear.

And once again, totally agree with you. I didn’t get hyped after game 1 and didn’t get down after last night. The only difference is, you guys seem to think he is headed to be an all star and and I havent seen enough to even predict if he will be a quality role player in the league.

That's why I'm asking you to name your metric. So we're not using the dreaded "eye test"
