I agree completely with playing Vonleh more. As long as he's on the team, we should be treating him as our future at PF. He doesn't need to start, but he needs to play.

As for Meyers, I think his injury really messed up his already limited game. Bench him and let him work his way into the rotation, if he can. In the meantime, teach him to be a center and have him play around the basket. He is a deft shooter and should have no trouble scoring the ball in a myriad of ways. On defense, playing the post will limit his opportunities for mistakes.

I like Terry, a lot. He's miles better than any coach we've had in a very long time. But maybe this team is getting close to being ready for a new coach, IDK.

That bolded sentence is rendered mostly meaningless when you consider that our previous coaches were:

    Nate McMillan
    Mo Cheeks
    Caleb Kanales
    Kevin Pritchard

It's been 16 years since we've had an NBA-caliber head coach!

you don't think the coaches get an eyeful of his game and upside in practice? Most likely the starters clean his clock which is why we don't see him much in games. He's been underwhelming in the PT he has garnered...

Just like Napier and Layman...if Vonleh plays long enough to break a sweat...he gets more comfortable...our starters and rotation guys aren't really putting teams away early so they get much burn yet and I'm positive some guys are playing for a trade that's backfired so far...not gaining much trade value

I was going to post something similar. He's playing like shit, and I'm not surprised at all. I would puke if we had to pay him 27 million dollars when he's 31. And with how fragile he is, just a couple years away from a wheelchair.

Vonleh had 3 early fouls but set a physical tone that was a departure from how Portland usually starts the game. Still not big numbers but also doing some of the little things. Anyone who splits their elbow from a fall because they flipped over when their knee cracked some helpless Thunder rebounder below as they flew by is okay by me.

I swear some of you wear blinders. I actually did think Noah showed improvement early in the season, but spinning his 3 fouls in 3 minutes last night as a positive is a reach.

He looked totally lost to me. Kept rotating to wrong person, didn't box out. And he kept reaching instead of moving his feet.

I am at a stage where I HATE Meyers, but if he did what Noah did last night, he'd be getting roasted.

Noah sucks. He was getting worked on both ends again.

There's a reason we made our playoff push after sending him to the bench -- why did we think any different this year? His improvement has been marginal, and he's still lost as hell. I swear he's worse than TRob in bball IQ aspects

Makes me wonder why we got rid of Batum. Gerald Henderson is gone and Vonleh shows flash's of something good but I don't know man

Have to say these last two games looks like he hasn't learned a thing from last season. He looked great opening night and showed flashes since, but the more he plays, the more he looks like a slightly smarter Meyers. Looks like he has to think about every move he makes before he makes it.

Plumlee said it in the locker room just now. If they have the answers, it's just about mental focus. THEN GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER ALREADY.

    Edit: wrong thread. lolz

After the trade happened I was told it was too early to say that. Last offseason, same deal... is it okay now?

I see a lot more potential in Vonleh this year than I did last year. He's really our only front court player that has a size/strength advantage against his opponent. The guy is built like a PF, and he's showing some inside game. And I think his jump shot is better than the percentages indicate.

Portland would have been better off just letting Crabbe and Leonard go and playing Layman and Vonleh.

I've mentioned this before, but when you're dealing with young players you're mainly looking for tools you can work with rather than actual results, and there is a lot to work with there with Vonleh. He needs a consistent role, where he's actually getting the ball and not just setting screenand a chance to play through struggles, otherwise how is he going to develop and improve? In practice? That's bullshit. If he's not going to get that opportunity here, trade him.

Maybe that was the best offer for batum.
