OK, I want everyone's opinion on who you think our starting 5 should be, and who you think JVG will start this season. One option with Battier as starting PF (for teams like Phoenix, and LAL), and another with either Hayes, Howard, or Novak. I am pretty sure we will have Battier start on some nights. OK. My starting 5: PG-Alston (if Sura is not healthy) SG-T-Mac (I'm not confident in Snyder, Span is a no-body as far as I'm concerned) SF-Battier PF-Hayes C - Yao My starting 5 with Battier as PF: PG-Alston (hmm I'm not sure if we should start Sura now that I think about it. He is very injury prone and that will just hurt us come playoff time) SG-Head SF-T-Mac PF-Battier C-Yao -------------------------------- Now who I think JVG will start: PG-Alston SG-T-Mac SF-Battier PF-Howard C- Yao JVG with Battier as our PF: PG-Alston SG-Snyder SF-T-Mac PF-Battier C-Yao I am very interested in what everyone thinks our starting 5 will be, and who they think JVG will start. Like I said, if Sura is healthy we should limit his minutes and save him for the playoffs. If Snyder can prove himself that would really help us a lot, because he can guard the Kobes, Rajas, and other SGs with smaller PFs. This would allow T-Mac to play SF, and Shane to play PF. V-Span...I'm just going to wait and see. There are already to many ifs. Just like last season.
We can't just call the rookies nobodies. They have expectations placed upon them coming into a season and the good ones should immediately be considered part of the rotation. Spanouliss, from what we saw in the WBC, should become a player right away. Novak, Azubuike and Harayasz can be considered unknowns but I believe VSpan is ready. Last year, everyone was ready to throw Head out, look what he is now. My starting five would look like: PG: Sura (dream option, but if not, Alston can suffice. If Sura's healthy, I say start him right away. There's no point saving him for the playoffs if he can't help us get there. He's a warrior, I believe in him ) SG: TMac (no brainer, with Jacobsen and Snyder sharing backup minutes) SF: Battier (with Novak and Snyder backing him up. TMac can slide over as well) PF: Howard (I like him for his range, and also because of the fact that it's pretty much impossible for Hayes to start) C: Yao (no brainer. Mutombo should be backup, after him...Hayes?)
1- Alston (if Sura is unhealthy) 2- Battier 3- McGrady 4- Howard 5- Yao Locke, Since Mcgrady's back is bad, you think he can still guard the 2's?
PG- Alston SG- Battier* SF- McGrady* PF- Howard C- Yao *- Most likely Battier will be guarding the other team's best shooting guard or small forward player with McGrady taking the other guy.

If you put Mcgrady at the 2 doesnt mean he will gaurd the 2. pg: Alston Sg: tmac sf: battier pf: howard c: yao
first post hey dudes dis is my first post here on jbb. startin 5 pg,v-span sg,t-mac sf, batt pf, howard c, yao yeah I know its tough for v-span to take on the 1 position but hes got great upsides and should be used primarly do to his shooting ability. I saw him play over here in Japan, but he was quite good.
Welcome to JBB MaxBaller. May I ask how a person in Japan became a Rockets fan? As for your question Umair, I'd rather have McGrady guarding the perimeter than guarding a three like Ron Artest.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TmacGarnett:</div><div class="quote_post">Positions are only labels. If you put Mcgrady at the 2 doesnt mean he will gaurd the 2. pg: Alston Sg: tmac sf: battier pf: howard c: yao</div> yea you're right
Hmm, nobody posted the lineups the way I wanted them. Okay, Battier will start at least 15-24 games this season at the PF spot. So I want to know what you think our starting like up will be with Battier at the 4, and without Battier at the 4. If you have extra time, post who you think JVG will start with and without Battier at the 4. Sorry if its a little demanding, but I want to know what you guys think. And Locke, I see what you mean and agree now. If Sura is healthy, why not use him.
Well, if Battier starts at power forward, my lineup would look like: PG: Sura SG: Head (with Sura at PG, Head's lack of size at SG should be made up for) SF: TMac PF: Battier C: Yao or, if Sura's not healthy- PG: Alston SG: Snyder SF: TMac PF: Battier C: Yao
Neh man.. I wouldn't put Head at 2. Head is too short and i think he would be better coming off the bench playing backup 2. He isn't that great of a defender either to guard the 2's. I would rather have Kirk Snyder at 2. So it would be like this PG: Sura SG: Snyder SF: McGrady PF: Battier C: Yao Snyder gives us athleticism and height
I made it clear in my post that Head's my starter if Sura is healthy. Sura, at 6-5, can guard the opposing twos and Head can guard the quicker ones. David Wesley spent the past two years at 6-1 guarding shooting guards, and did a hell of a job. Obviously, Head's not as good a defender but he has quicker foot speed and is two inches taller. Snyder only has two inches on Head, and yes, he's a better defender, but I prefer Head for his three-point shooting and ability to bring the ball upcourt if need be.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Iggy:</div><div class="quote_post">Alston Head Mcgrady Battier Yao</div> very good. tHis is also a good lineup

You guys are really overexaggerating Sura's impact on this team. The sad part is we don't have any other options. So maybe ur right

Micheal Finley is slowing down himself and isn't the player he once was. Bonzi Wells can only hurt us on the block.
PG - Sura SG - Tmac SF - Battier PF - Howard C - Yao Lets hope that can work out Cuz it sure looks nice.
