<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rock4life:</div><div class="quote_post">David Wesley was a liability on defense and if you think Sura's gonna guard the Kobe's, Bonzi's, Finley's, Richardson's, Carmello's etc.....ur sadly mistaken. You guys are really overexaggerating Sura's impact on this team. The sad part is we don't have any other options. So maybe ur right[IMG]</div>

Whatever man. Sura had a much bigger impact on this team than you make it out to be. We did not get hot during the 04-05 season until Sura came in and meshed so well with everyone.

    He got us 10-15ppg
    5-6 assists
    5 rebounds (as PG)
Hit that Tre', so you couldn't double off of him (and the 2 most important ones were during game 2 of the playoffs in the last minute. Then T-Mac hit the gamewinner)

    Another line up I like.

    Alston
    Sura
    T-Mac
    Battier
    Yao

You could switch Alston with Head.

For some reason, im not comfortable seeing Battier on PF on y'all list.

I dont know how GREAT he is on defense. But, I am thinking he isn't great enough to guard players like KG, TD, and so on. The great power forwards..

The only TYPE of good power forward I think he would be able to do a good job on is players like Nowitzki.

    G: Rafer Alston
    G: Tracy McGrady
    F: Shane Battier
    F: Juwan Howard
    C: Yao Ming

Though this will depend on who is healthy and as mentioned before Battier will take the offensive threat on the other team. I'd personally start Alston over Sura.

Whenever you see him on one of my lists it is implied for the teams with smaller PFs. Teams like Phoenix, Memphis (w/o Gasol), or Portland.

For the KGs, or Dirks I want Howard guarding them for the majority of the time.

    Oh, I see.

Quicker teams and smaller teams - I see why we would rather have Battier on as PF. Even on Dirk, I think we need to have Battier on PF playing defense on Dirk.

    Sorry forcoming back late LOCKe
Well I actually used to live in Houston,10years ago when Clyde and Hakeem was still there. In Japan, Rockets is 1 of the more popular teams due to Yao. Well I saw a thread at NBA.com and if we can actually get bonzi
    It will look like

    V-Span
    Bonzi
    T-MAC
    Shane
    Yao
trust me V-Span is really gooo0000000000000000000000d

    Alston
    Bonzi
    T-Mac
    Battier
    Yao

I wouldn't start Sura, give him time coming off the bench and get used to playing again. Maybe towards the end he can start again but starting him as soon as the season starts isn't smart imo. This is also based on if Bonzi gets signed [IMG] . If not then this would be my lineup.

    Alston
    T-Mac
    Battier
    Howard
    Yao

The real weakness on the starting lineup is PF
Until that goes away it has to be a game of match ups
The second lineup would probably be the most used because of talent.

Skip is the best starting PG. Sura is comming off injury. Head and JLII not really starters
VSpan played real aggressive and physical in the Basketball Championships. I invision him picking up a lot of fouls out on the perimeter in the NBA

    Skip
    TMac
    Shane
    Howard
    Yao

    Skip
    Bonzi
    TMac
    Shane
    Yao

No one is being traded to get a center because Bonzi will leave after this season barring that he fallas in love with the rockets. We will need Luther next season and this one. Head will be the 7th man if Bonzi doesn't start.

    Skip
    Bonzi
    Tmac
    Howard
    Yao

I wanna put Battier in there, but truly think Bonzi should start. But if Battier starts over Bonzi then it wouldn't make that much of difference. My main concern is how can get Spanoulis some minutes, along with Head.

Same, I want Spanoulis to get DECENT minutes. I think he can develop into something BIG. But, Bonzi over Shane? Im not sure about that. I'd have a DEFENSIVE SPECIALIST on the court, to hold the other team down. But, hey, we could also use an offensive blast in Bonzi.

Batter or Bonzi, now thats a hard one.

Bonzi Wells has said he doesn't plan on shooting a lot of threes with the Rockets. If that holds true, the Rockets can not put out a starting lineup of Alston, Bonzi, Mcgrady, Howard, and Yao. McGrady would only have one other three point shooter on the floor (Alston), and not a very good one at that.

And I don't think JVG starts Mcgrady or Battier at SG either, since they're more natural position is at the forward spot. One of Bonzi and Battier will definitely start, which means Howard probably will be coming off the bench.

Likely starters, as I see it:

    PG: Alston
    SG: Bonzi
    SF: McGrady
    PF: Battier
    C : Yao

    PG: Alston
    SG: Head
    SF: McGrady
    PF: Battier
    C : Yao

Van Gundy has stated that the starting lineup won't necessarily be the best players, but rather the best combination of players. Bonzi not shooting threes well will really limit how he can be used on the team, which was one of my concerns.

Thats a great defensive line up as well.

    Alston - Mediocre-Okay
    Wells - Okay-Good
    T-Mac - Great
    Battier - Great-Excellent
    Yao - Good-Great

We dont have any excellent defenders/defensive specialist. You could make a case for Battier, but he isn't up to par with Bruce Bowen/Artest. But he is an all around great player and I really like him in our line up.
