Aminu must be feeling pretty lonely right now - being able to play defense is just not a valued skill on this team.
I could bet a lot of money on the words "Reclamation project" and the example of Moe Harkless to be thrown around when NeO will speak about this.
Guys, guys: it all makes sense... so long as you assume we're about to hire Paul Westhead as our new coach.
On the bright side he is a 6'6" guard, something we haven't seen much of on the Blazers. I'm sure wingspan and standing reach are very blah though. (and I hope he has brough his body fat down since the draft, when it was one of the very highest. Here is a positive spin on him (however since he was traded shortly after, how much credence does it have?) “Right now, he has as much ‘game’ as anybody on our team, in the wings,” Brett Brown was saying Wednesday, before a game against the Atlanta Hawks. “He can put it to the floor. He can make a three. He can make a pass. He can run a pick and roll. I am now making him a point guard. I am just ruthlessly on him on his defense. I’ll never let go of that. And slowly, I think that, too, is getting better. He lets me coach him. And I just think for all those reasons, he is really having a heck of a year. And I think he’s going to keep getting better.” http://www.delcotimes.com/article/DC/20170329/SPORTS/170329629
People were interested in Mario Hezonja, so instead Neil brings in another guy with a Europey sounding name with much worse stats.
Why do we need another guard with what we did in the draft and Balwin looking good. ? This is a mind boggler to me!!!!
Is this our big move of the Summer? Is it really time to blow it up after getting the 3 seed? I’m atleast excited to see our rookies play next season.
This is nothing like moneyball. It's the exact opposite. Moneyball looks for good players who contribute and it shows up in their advanced stats. Ed Davis & Lopez were both good moneyball aqusitions. Nik has ranged from average to atrocious. Dumping Pat, who is a better player, for Nik is a bad move
I will admit it, I was very high on Stauskas before the 2014 draft. So far, he has been a disappointment. But many, if not most, of the players drafted in 2014 have been a disappointment. Few have reached their projected "potential". Coming out of college, Nik had many of the same skills as Simon. Maybe that is why my optimism for Simon reaching his "potential" has been cautious. I wish Stauskas well, and hope this is his breakout season.
25th worst. And many on the list have a skill which partially makes up for it. He didn't. http://bkref.com/tiny/5GNV8
Apparently, you haven't watched video on Stauskas. He's a better shooter and just as athletic or more than Pat. However, Pat is apparently the much better defender...
Been around much? This year is unusual. In most years, there is VERY little action until the big dogs sign. I don't expect us to make a move until LBJ signs somewhere. You shouldn't either.
Maybe we, as the favorite, got swept in the playoffs because the Pels double teamed off all of our non-shooters. Moneyball would say get more shooters, and that's exactly what we're doing.
