This is ideal. However KP has come out and said in print that he doesn't like to mess with the team during the season. He has shown in two consecutive trade deadlines that he is unwilling to make a move mid season.
Can I add Grant Hill to the original post's list of SFs? He'd bring experience, consistency, a good attitude, and solid SF play, all for a cheap price. He isn't injury prone anymore (he played 82 games last season), he wouldn't take any minutes from Batum, and he'd let us focus on a PG.
Good point 10. Hill wouldn't be ideal, but I think we've passed that point. He'd be a nice vet to have on the team for a year or two and would come cheap enough for us to maintain most of that cap flexibility... Definitely wouldn't mind Hill on this team.
KP has been reluctant to trade away contributing players during the season. However this year would be different, we would have salary cap space and could absorb a bad contract without sending anything back. We could insist on getting draft pick(s) in return if it's a worthless player. Or we could add a useful but overpaid player, all without losing anyone on our roster. However, just because KP hasn't done a midseason trade doesn't mean he won't ever do one. Trader Bob preferred to make all of his roster changes in the offseason as well. But when an opportunity came around to snag Damon, who was one of the top up and coming PG's in the league at the time, Bob pulled the trigger midseason.
