Steven Adams is at least half Maori. I can guarantee you he knows what discrimination is. And I can almost as certainly guarantee you he meant absolutely nothing by his comments. If he had called them "quick little bastards", would he have been roasted by that segment of society whose mothers never married their fathers??? It's a freakin' expression and nothing more. What a crock of horseshit. Move on folks, nothing to see here.....
Dis he also mention that Andrew Bogut looks like a shaved Hill Troll...... is that racist? I'm sorry.
HCP has the George Zimmerman problem, he became white when he did/said something someone didn't like. It looks like Adams has that problem too, he isn't Maori anymore, he's just white. I need to watch what I say or I'll become full white too.
The real problem here isn't what Steven Adams said, what he belives or what he meant to say. The real problem is it's 2016 and way too many people still look at someone and base their opinion on them on the color of their skin. That's not what Adams did here. He looks at Steph Curry and Klay Thompson and sees two very good basketball players that are smaller than him, faster than him and very difficult to guard based on their quickness, their constant motion and record setting shooting ability. It was not meant as an insult, or a slur. Yeah, I'm putting words in his mouth, but if anyone thinks he meant it as a racial slur they need to save their indignation for more worthy targets. Gee, I can think of one off the top if my head, but I don't want to mention his name and get this thread moved to the OT section just yet, because it is basketball related. BNM
I'm sorry but if saying Boys and comparing someone to an agile/quick animal in reference to their playstyle is considered racist, we have problems. Shit like this is like false rape accusations, it lessens the impact of TRUE acts of vile racism.
Just because YOU say so?????!!!!!!!!?????!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!!? Lol at HCP being white. He looks more like a bad guy from a James Bond movie, better yet a bad guy from a James Bond movie's slow cousin.
Not insensitive at all. He's from a different country. Just an innocent comment about monkeys being hard to catch. No reason to apologize
nope, 0% Maori but is half Tongan. His dad (i think) was English. regardless, the fact that he had to retract it due to people over there thinking it can be taken as a racial slur is just fuckin pathetic. is that really where we are at lol? although, I can see the media running it for days non stop if Trump etc said it about any group of people with even the slightest hint of race being an element.
