4 years, 16 million sounds good to me. Fisher hits just as many daggers against teams. So they've improved defensively, probably stayed the same offensively, and lost some veteran leadership. However, they also eliminated their chances at adding Mike Miller, or any help in the front court with the MLE.

Who is this Steve Blake fellow of whom you all speak? Did he used to have some connection with the Blazers?

    Well, looks like it's official.

I'm happy. I'm sure he's better than Farmar.

I think the real comparison comes when you compare Triple doubles between Blake and Farmar. Blake: 1 The elephant ears man: 0

Blake is a perfect fit for the Lakers. Funny how quite a few of this saw this happening when Blake was traded to the Clippers.

If I had to choose between keeping Camby and keeping that-person-who-shall-not-be-named, I'll choose Camby.

You mean like the time he missed 4 free throws in a row or the time in the playoffs where he took the 30 foot 3 point shot with 13 seconds left on the clock.

Blakey's "clutch" shooting is over-rated as is the player himself.

If the Laker fans didn't like Fisher last season, wait until they get a load of Blake.

    Fuck him.

Sigh. We can't really complain, because we ditched him twice, to crappy teams.
Re: Farmar comparison: it's not really fair. Farmar is much more athletic and talented. But Blake is better suited to a Phil Jackson team. He's sort of Derek Fisher lite, only without the personality. He can't penetrate to save his life, he can't run a fast break, but he gets very few turnovers and he hits the open three. And he defends Steve Nash surprisingly effectively. He's perfect as a Fisher replacement (except for that whole Motivation Speech thing), but I'm not sure he makes a good Fisher backup. Farmar was actually a good change of pace from Fisher, and a reason the Lakers bench played at a faster pace than the starters. That is NOT Blake's game. He's a role player around more talented teammates.

Here's hoping this signing means the Lakers don't re-sign Fisher.

(Biggest plus for Laker fans: no Sasha-as-PG.)

.Steve Blake could've signed for more money elsewhere, but wisely chases ring with Lakers at 4 years for $16 million. Shrewd signing for L.A.

    "Wisely"?

Does this mean the Lakers don't have enough money for Mike Miller? Or are they hoping he's "wise" as well?
