My wife's co-worker actually asked their boss that was being generous enough to pay them if they could pay her under the table so she could get unemployment too.

She gets to stay home and wanted extra pay...not just enough to stay above water...extra.

When you say that they think it is more lucrative they are actually right.

Stay home and lower your risk of getting sick and still get money sounds better than working and risking death.

Even if the pay was identical the stay home sounds better to me.

Yeah it might be, probably gonna shut us down though. Also would be surprised if anyone got sick because of our work environment. dealing with micro-electronics and clean rooms, and they're sanitizing the entire facility 6x times a day, on top of the ridiculously high standards they have anyways. Still can't blame people for being scared, and for wanting to stay home if it pays just as well.

I worked in a clean room years ago. Loved it when allergies hit me.

It doesn't matter how they spend it. It only matters that they spend it.

No, you must be either layed off or fired to collect unemployment. Quitting makes you ineligible for unemployment.

I do not need to ask your permission to be irritated that my tax dollars go to sexist, homophobic, unscientific and often openly sectarian programs.

Not true. spending it with he corner dealer s not good. Paying down debt is not good, technically. In order for this to stimulate, people must actually purchase goods and services.

The money allotted for big businesses is a huge problem. Especially when you consider it gets handed out personally by the treasury secretary Steve ‘Goldman sachs’ Mnuchin. This is while the aid for small businesses has to go through the small businesses association, a notoriously inept bureau. Smaller companies will go out of business while waiting a year for their aid and get bought up by large companies that already got theirs.

BTW, this is not a stimulus bill. It's a stay-in-business bill.

A lot of people will milk this for whatever they can get out of it, but unless they completely change unemployment rules, if you are offered a job, or offered work, you need to take it or you will lose your benefits. We will see how strict they are with that though.

Yeah, discussed it a bit somewhere already, the feeling at my place of employment and discussion is that most people think that for a few months there is no chance unemployment offices can keep up with the normal vetting process. So we shall see.

Over two hundred Million people are not going to spend any significant amount on the "corner dealer". Well, me? Maybe, depends on the deal I can get because if there's one thing us men are good at it's shopping. This reminds me, I need a new pair of shoes to go with my new duds. A new purse wouldn't hurt.

am I being too cynical by beings suspicious of that "131 billion for other" category?

532 billion for corporate entities. And he cries about 1 billion for ventilators.

ugh. Reganomics was a fucking joke and Republicans have destroyed this country. This isn't capitalism, it's corporate socialism.

They all destroyed it together. Trying to blame one side is extremely short sighted. Democrats also engaged in and supported the the ‘corporate socialism’, which is an accurate description.

I agree with everything else you said however. Manufacturers need to be commissioned to make ventilators immediately.

I couldn't get anyone to agree that Trump getting rid of our post office subsidizing cheap chinese goods being shipped here for less than I can send something to AZ was a good idea.

Now these assholes want us to magically make millions of chinese made items appear instantly.

Imagine someone like me coming home tonight and my wife says we have no food. Should I scream at her that she should grow a garden and raise some chickens and I want it by tomorrow?
