Any coach can become better or worse. Luckily for Kidd, he's got a lot of room above him to be better and very little room to be worse. If he can bring us an all-star wing, I guess we're better off with him.
This is pretty simple for Dame just like it is for me. I lived in Portland until I was ten and then I lived in the East Bay in California. Jason Kidd is only arguably the best ball player to come out of the East Bay ever and Oakland specifically because of Dame. Of course Dame wants the guy he grew up knowing was the man. Obviously they're a generation away from each other but that Oakland tie runs deep. I for one like J Kidd. He runs a tight ship, isn't afraid to hold his players accountable and really knows the game. He is one of the few assistants in the league that has led a team to the playoffs as a head coach. He is equal parts offense and defense and always has been. I also think he is very well connected in the league and would bring some great assistants. The only worry I would have is if we overachieved maybe another team offers him personnel control and he bolts because he's power hungry but I doubt that happens.
How to come to that conclusion? You don't think it's possible he wants Kidd and he wants him bad enough that he's going to strongarm the move into happening? That's my guess.
Dame was already a bit miffed about Haynes's recent article about Dame needing help. I'd think Haynes would be careful in any quotes.
Dame wants either Kidd or Billups https://theathletic.com/2634209/202...d-or-chauncey-billups-the-two-likely-choices/ Damian Lillard had a hard time processing the news Friday that Trail Blazers coach Terry Stotts and the organization were parting ways. “I love Terry,” Lillard told The Athletic. “And I will miss him as my coach.” But after nine seasons, and an era of successful and entertaining basketball, Stotts and the Blazers agreed he would leave as coach, one day after the team was bounced in the first round of the playoffs by Denver in six games. It was the fourth time in five seasons Portland has failed to advance in the playoffs. Up next will be a new coach, and Lillard said it would be “ideal” if Stotts’ replacement has experience. “I like J. Kidd and Chauncey,” Lillard said, referring to Lakers assistant Jason Kidd and Clippers assistant Chauncey Billups. A source close to Lillard says he prefers Kidd because of his previous head coaching experience in Brooklyn and Milwaukee, and his background as an Oakland point guard. But Portland’s management is intrigued by Billups, the former point guard who was an NBA Finals MVP with Detroit. It is believed the Trail Blazers will ultimately decide between Kidd and Billups.
https://bleacherreport.com/articles...-wolves-for-not-hiring-david-vanterpool-as-hc I don't think it's too far fetched.
Jason Kidd the previous best from Oakland? The Glove still exists no? As for hiring Kidd, whatever, it’s Dame’s franchise.
I don’t think he misquoted him. But he’s making it seem like Kidd is the only guy he wants. Haynes even throws in something about Dame having a good relationship with Billups at the end that’ll get ignored.
