Floor general of one of the most disciplined defensive starting 5s to win a championship in the modern era...mr big shot....two way player...unselfish...he's perfect
Quick thinks the two primary candidates short of Spoelstra or Bud hitting the market are Billups and Joerger. He also said he hasn’t heard Kidd’s name
Shoutout to coach Stotts ...I always liked the guy and the way things stand I'm sure he welcomes a new opportunity....word is Indiana covets him...Boston will probably talk to him as well.
Stotts had the job security of a successful dictator. He was beyond mediocre. His coaching record before Portland was even worse. No idea why he was even looked at.
Thank fuck for that! Bye bye, and take your old ass playbook with you. Thanks for wasting Dame's prime! In as far as who replaces him....anyone but another "friend". Dame doesn't need a "friend", he needs a coach.
I like the Chauncey idea....the superstars flocked to play with Steve Nash and he's a rookie coach...Chauncey is NBA connected and respected.
Outside of winning a championship, it’s the best way to make your team a draw if the city/location isn’t a desired destination. Guys will wanna play with Dame and for Billups. Just surround him with experienced assistants.
TRAIL BLAZERS AND TERRY STOTTS MUTUALLY AGREE TO PART WAYS Stotts departs as Portland’s second all-time winningest coach PORTLAND, Ore. (June 4, 2021) – The Portland Trail Blazers and Terry Stotts have mutually agreed to part ways, it was announced today by Neil Olshey, president of basketball operations. “I have the utmost respect for Terry and what he has accomplished these past nine seasons,” said Olshey. “This was a difficult decision on both a personal and professional level but it’s in the best interest of the franchise to move in another direction. Terry will always hold a special place in the Trail Blazer family and the Portland community. We relied on the integrity, professionalism and consistency he brought to the job every day and we wish he and Jan nothing but the best.” Stotts completed his ninth season as head coach of the Trail Blazers in 2020-21 after guiding Portland to a 42-30 record and an eighth consecutive postseason appearance. A 27-year coaching veteran, Portland introduced Stotts as the franchise’s 14th head coach on August 7, 2012. He is the second-winningest coach in franchise history after Jack Ramsay. Overall, Stotts holds a career coaching record of 517- 486 (.515) and a 402-318 (.558) mark with Portland. “We are all grateful for Terry’s contributions and his nine years with the Trail Blazers,” said Jody Allen, chair of the Trail Blazers. “I appreciate his steadfast dedication to the players, the game, and the broader Portland community. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.” NEIL OLSHEY WILL BE AVAILABLE TO MEDIA VIA ZOOM ON MONDAY, JUNE 7 AT 11 AM.
Fuck ya!! This is what I wanted! Complete overhaul! I’m optimistic as ever now! The real fans will show their faces now thru all this adversity! Optimism is high!
I just feel the Becky Hammon thing is way too cliche. If she wasn’t a woman would she be bandied about? That’s a question I don’t think we know the answers to. Maybe when these open coaching slots open up we’ll see more if other teams are interested as much as the Portland fan base. Or I guess this board. I’m not saying she’s not a good candidate. I just feel because she’s a female people are gung ho Becky Hammon. Maybe she is the right candidate. But I want it to be because she’s a good coach. Not because she’s sits down when she pees.
