Another espn list that ignores the Blazers? Go figure! Stotts is MY COY and Hornecek is my runner up. I hope Terry gets us to the championship game and shuts them all up. Hornacek did a great job but some of his skills came to him from all those years under Jerry Sloan. Jerry Sloan never won the award if I'm remembering correctly
These awards should never be handed out or predicted before the playoffs are finished either in my opinion
To me there are 3 possibilities: 1) Stotts deserves SERIOUS COY consideration or 2) Robin Lopez is the MVP of the league or 3) The voters are stupid. Personally, I'd go with #1...
Aldridge and his improvement into the best Big in the league had nothing to do with the +20 wins either. Nope. Forget that garbage. Cut him.
LMA didn't improve at all - he's the same player he's been for the past few years. His rebounding average went up because of Lopez, not because he finally learned how to box out and rebound. His FG% is a career low. So yeah - taking a career high FGA while shooting a career low FG% really helped propel the team forward.
I find that ridiculous. Every player on this team (especially the rest of the starters) improved from last year. That, coupled with the new additions is why we won 20 more games.
Just like a basketball game, Stotts this season coached a great 1st qtr of the season and a great 4th qtr, these awards are like Oscars though, they should give them to 4 coaches a year. Toronto made a huge leap this season. Homer vote goes to Stotts and I guess that's what I am.
It would be ironic if he won coach of the year while his own team doesn't even have enough faith in him to pick up his 3rd year option.
I am still shocked Pops can coach his players how to be younger, that's some real coaching skill there.
