We lost this morning. 16-11 and that ended our tourney. Had the lead early, then the other team caught fire offensively. It was fun though. I'd like to thank Denny Crane again for sponsoring the team. We had a good time and didn't do too bad. I was able to tell a few people about the site, so maybe we'll have some new members soon. Looking forward to next year, maybe we can get some more members to show up and represent. I wouldn't mind watching from the sideline. Denny, I don't know how much you are into marketing the site, but it appears to me this event would be a great venue to do it. I've got a couple of ideas if you want to hear 'em.
Dropped our final game 16-11. Finished 2-2, third in our pool, just out of the elimination bracket. Not bad, not great--but it was a good time. EDIT: Echo what Dobalina said.
Good job guys, that's sick. I wanna enter a team from S2 into a basketball game. I'm pretty damn good.
First off, as acting GM, Bob Dob you are now relieved of your Player/Coach position. Obviously you were NOT ready for this kinda pressure. Second, DennyCrane if you aren't willing to step up and spend large amounts of $$$$$$$ to land the best talent I'm sure BBF.com would be.
It's incredibly difficult to find the words to convey just how lucky and grateful I am to have experienced what I have for the past weekend with the ripcitytwo.com streetjam team, but I felt it was important to try. First and foremost, I want to thank and salute Denny Crane. He is being unfairly characterized as a bad guy in all of this and that is completely inaccurate and totally unfair. The shame and dishonor lands squarely on HCP's shoulders. Parting ways is not the end of the world. Ultimately, it may not be a bad thing at all, but right now I know the emotions are pretty raw. None of this is to be taken too seriously. It is just basketball. And, as strange as it may sound, none of the highlights from the past weekend had to do with anything on the court; it was everything off the court that meant the most to me. I'll always look back fondly on the 2010 StreetJam and the many great memories and all the lasting relationships I made here. Thank you, ripcitytwo. You're the best. You have a great owner and great posters (for the most part). In other words, you have a great team and I mean that from the bottom of my heart.
If Pritchard can get a gig playing a car salesman, you should be good for a spot as an insurance agent or something. Get your people on the phone with TNT!
Funny you mention that. I just drove by what I believe is the current Leverage set. It's in a hotel parking lot around the corner from my job. Maybe I should walk up there with a sign.
We should get a regular hoops game going for anyone interested at a park around Portland. I know I'd be down for a regular street ball game with anyone here.
HCP's busting my balls, and it's in good fun. I don't mind it in the least. I wish I had Paul Allen's money to buy the big name free agents! Anyhow, doing stuff like sponsoring the street jam team is what I always hoped S2 would be about. Community extends beyond message boards.
Great idea! I should (fingers crossed) be moving back to the Portland area in a couple months. After I shake the rust off I would totally be up for playing hoops with you guys.
You realize this was my idea! Denny the value of this dump has drastically gone up since THE HCP arrived.
Our team's first meet-up was at Irving Park on 7th and NE Fremont--that's as good a place as any for a regular game. Any other suggestions?
Now your talkin'! NorthEast Portland baby! Back in the mid 80's there was a league there where all the best players around used to play! Our own little Rucker Park!
I wanted to go play with you, but found out that there are not enough Turkish restaurants for my liking, so I am taking my talents to south beach. Good job, looks like lots of fun!
Anywhere really. There's Wallace Park in NW that's pretty nice, it's got two courts. There's the park on Powell across the street from Cleveland HS. Any place would be cool, and I'd be able to go anywhere for some hoop action. I'd love to see who the real ballers on this board are. haha.
