Kind of sounds like student loan forgiveness went from "The Blazers are signing Kevin Durant!" to "Well, the Blazers are signing Serge Ibaka!" to "The Blazers signed Festus Ezeli?!" to "aaand he's already injured and out for the year".
There is no money. It's debt, owed to banks. The government is the cosigner and has to pay the debt if the borrower doesn't. The government is many trillions in debt and would have to raise taxes astronomically on the Middle Class to pay off the debt to the banks.
Physical schools are unnecessary for 99% of all higher education needs, and the time required to complete an education could be slashed by years.
College graduates who are saddled with a qtr million in debt before they get their first job aren't going to afford to buy a house, start a small business or start a family......this is why the middle class is hurting....and taxes will be raised on folks making more than 400k per year under Joe's plan...that's not the middle class......you'd think a real estate agent would understand this. Escalating the 1% ability to buy yachts and islands in the Caribean while hiding money in European banks isn't contributing to paying off the national debt either....stop the billionaire's war against the working class and young couples trying to start a decent life....we don't need another golf course ...we need affordable housing
I think with the covid vaccine program he's funding the numbers don't support doing that now....I'd say Joe has kicked that can down the road possibly hoping in 2022 there will be more votes for it
I think in this case it's inevitable....we need to look at taxing the 1% before we make the middle class pay it off
I just said this in another thread, but why should the underprivileged working class have to pay for more affluent college graduates’ college degrees? Seems like an interesting position for liberals who clamor on about privilege to be taking. I don’t expect the plumbers or electricians to pay for my children’s education so they can go on to make more money than them. There are way more noble causes than paying ‘educated’ people’s bills for them.
...I read it as he said no to the $50k proposal but is still very much in favor of a lesser amount. For now, he doesn't want to use executive order to make it happen since he prefers a bipartisan agreement...but if ultimately that fails, then he will revisit executive options.
Because it's about more than that. Student debt is strangling this economy. Basically an entire generation is being weighted down with student debt. That impacts you. That's impacts me. That impacts our country as a whole. Forgiving student debt would be an investment in our economy. And here's the thing, the government and the state run schools have been profiting off of our children for decades. They jacked up the price on everything, not just the tuition. Education shouldn't be a for-profit business. Not state schools anyway. They ran up the price and left many kids with a piece of paper that's not worth the paper it's printed on.
I know this is a common meme but it is also a personal insult. This will do nothing to create a dialog but only lead to more insults.
