<div class="quote_poster">Brian Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">High school is what sets you up for college, which sets you up for life. I don't see how it's pointless academically, unless you plan on dropping out or something...</div>

Obviously you need some of the stuff you learn but the majority of the stuff you learn in high school isn't applied in the classroom. It's used when your interacting with others or building relationships. How to carry out a conversation and make friends is much more important than knowing what a linear equation is.

I think I misinterpretted what you guys were saying. I agree that a lot of the stuff we learn in high school will never be applied in actual life. How many of us are seriously going to use things we learn from classes like Science and Math later on in our lives? Will we ever need to know what makes up a cell? Will we ever need to solve complicated math problems involving the Pascal's Triangle? Probably not.

What I was saying was, colleges look at your grades to detirmine whether or not you can apply. If you just completely brush aside academics, chances are, you aren't getting into a good college, or any college for that matter. I'm not saying that you need to get into college to be successful, but it definetly does help later on in life.

Yeah, but in that sense high school is still a breeze. What's taught in high school's across the country is stupid, and demeaning. Anyone that can't pass such classes, or even do well in them, needs to reevaluate their life. Maybe I'm too harsh.

Seems to me like you need to stay in high school some more and brush up on a few things.

High school was pointless academically. Socially it's the key point of your life. It just about makes you the person you are. Creates your social advances and priorities in life. Plus, talk about the *****. Yum.</div>

lol i usually get honors this is the first year i didn't get it every marking period as of now, i just dont care when im tryping on the computer unless im getting graded on it

I don't hate High School, it's a lot of fun. My first year was a struggle though because making new friends and going to a completely new system and what not took a while to adjust to (expecting the same in Uni).

Anyways, by my second year's second semester, I pretty much knew the majority of the people in my grade and by now, I basically know everyone that is in the same grade as me.

I think grade nine and ten are the learning curves but 11 and 12 are where you really find yourself. The funny thing is my friends circle has been different almost every year since being in grade 9; that's how high school tends to be.

HS is great, but after a while you just want to get away from it and move on.

You serious? That would never happen at my school. There's like a million people for each grade

Really? I know everyone in my grade too. I just assumed that was the norm.

I did in 8th grade. Everyone pretty much knew everyone in their grades, but the high school I currently go to is freaking huge. It's over-populated, and they're planning on building another high school in the district to even things out. Thing is, that new high school won't be completed for another 4 to 5 years, so it won't effect me at all.

I get out of high school June 6th (well earlier but we have a week of finals). I'm heading into my senior year next year, and honestly high school went by way to quick. It feels like just yesterday I was a freshman. I really feel like people take HS for granted then realize how quickly it goes by when its too late. I'm looking forward to life after high school at this point since I'm planning on returning to Brazil the September after graduation, but I'm going to miss my friends dearly, I grew up with most of these people and its going to be tough not seeing them regularly any more.
