I don't see why West should be our starting shooting guard.
Because he is currently better than Gerald Green. He is a smarter player and would give the Celtics a better chance of winning now. He is a smarter shooter and a better all around player. He will get more rebs/asts than Green and is more solid at D right now. West also compliments Pierce better. Green would bring nice scoring off the bench. Thats why. West is better.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (CelticBalla32 @ Jun 22 2007, 08:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Are you kidding? He did a terrible job. I'm guessing you are referring to the last few games of the 05-06 season. TA did terrible at the point and he turned the ball over a lot. Making him a point guard would hinder his development even more than it already is and it would be horrible for the team.</div>Ok so maybe I am exagerating, I guess I was trying to convince myself the Bulls might go for this. Throw in Telfair then maybe? Backup point, actually maybe a nice fit in Chi off the bench?

I bet if you asked Paul Pierce who he'd rather start with he'd tell you Gerald Green. Paul loves Green, he helps him out and is his mentor on the team. Gerald is a better shooter than Delonte and he will excite the crowd, put fans in seats, and make the Celtics more exciting to watch. He'd also blossom in his experience and play. Making Green ride the pine for the 3rd straight year will only ruin his career. I think West is cancer though. He's 25 and isn't showing any improvement. Can't use his right hand at all. If anyone should get moved this summer, it's him.

Wow, just when I think you can't get any worse, you call Delonte West a cancer. Gerald is not a better shooter. West was very consistent this season and his minutes weren't. Getting 25 mpg isn't riding the pine. West is currently a better basketball player than Gerald Green.

Skiles and that structured system would officially ruin him completely, and Skiles would never play him because he can't defend.

I want Noah and Duhon though haha. But not likely.

Did the Joe Johnson deal die?haven't heard much about it the past 4 days.makes me wonder if it's dead or hush hush because it may happen (crosses fingers)

It was made by some guy on the RealGM forums named "Celtic Thug," and he was later caught lying and pretended to be Ryan Gomes/Tony Allen typing on his account in the forums. Not to mention, every other word he typed was a typo: "I hear Garnett from Timber wolves to Boston fro packge wi th teh #5 pik."
hmm coulda sworn I saw something on cnnsi truth and rumors, but maybe it was the marion, lewis or KG stuff.this waiting is taking to dang long. you can talk yourself into any move with this much time to wait....
2 scenarios that I could see the C's making space for him and getting the right pick, because we aren't going to take him at 5.Scenario 1::Celtics trade-5th Overall PickAl JeffersonTheo RatliffOne PG to match contracts(telfair, rondo, delonte all work in trade machine)Clippers trade-14th Overall PickElton BrandCeltics draft Al Thornton with the 14th pick.Only problem is, Thornton could easily be picked over this spot, but there are others that would work well too: Jeff Green, Nick Young, and considering LA probably wouldnt take Yi or Noah or Wright, one of the three or spencer hawes would fall to us at the 14th if thornton is not available.Scenario 2::Celtics trade-5th Overall PickTheo RatliffHornets trade-13th Overall PickTyson ChandlerMarcus ViniciusCeltics draft Al thornton with the 13th pick.I like this one because if it works out like I said C's starting lineup isC-Tyson ChandlerPF- Al JeffersonSF- Al ThorntonSG- Paul PiercePG- West/Rondo
Option 2 sounds great, but would the Hornets give up Chandler to move up 8 spots?not sure If I'd give up teh #5 and Al for a Brand.

I would do option 1 easily. Instantly contending, and brand right now commands double teams al still has like 2 or maybe even 3 years until he gets there IF EVEN he ever does.
Scenario two sounds realistic...Hornets could get Corey Brewer or Jeff Green....and since Celtics don't need/want anyone that high, they could just move back, grab a rebounding force like Chandler, and still get a solid player that helps them long term.
Scenario #2 looks great for us, but I don't think New Orleans would do it. #1 is too unrealistic to begin with, IMO, and like CelticFan said, is the difference between Brand/Jefferson honestly going to be THAT big 2 years from now? I doubt it. Also note that Thornton could very well go 10 or 12. I don't think trading down for 13 or 14 would guarantee us Thornton.
