Also, yeah... IF we trade a couple wing players AFTER that trade, we wouldn't have a log jam. I gave my opinion on that trade only, not the possibilities of what could happen afterwards. Besides, getting two All-Stars one the same team that play the same position just isn't something I'm in love with.

Allen may be a little old for this team, but if they feel the team is capable of competing at a high level (meaning we get Oden) immediately a deal would make sense. Pierce and Allen wouldn't have to worry about "getting theirs" because their games are different enough that one won't take opportunities from the other.

I would MUCH rather go out and get a veteran point guard and/or big man. Ray Allen is a great player and I have always been a big fan of his, but we shouldn't target a swingman. We need another point guard on this team (veteran) and we need another serviceable big man. We have Paul Pierce, Tony Allen, Gerald Green, Delonte West, Ryan Gomes, and Wally Szczerbiak. Now, I know we'd obviously be dealing 1-2 of them in a deal for a star, but we don't need to target a swingman.

If it's outside the top 2 it could be used to bring in someone like Wright, Hortford, Noah, Hibbert, or could be packaged in a deal. I hear everyone say we should target a veteran PG, but who is available? Smuch Parker? Those guys come at a premium. IMO, if a deal becomes available for an all-star caliber player, Ainge should pull the trigger as long as the price isn't too high. It's not like this team has the luxury of worrying about whether someone will fit in or not. Obviously you don't want a swingman EXACTLY like Pierce, or one at all if you draft Durant, but after that criteria just deal for the best player available.

We just need a solid veteran that can help teach Rondo a couple things, help close out games, and be someone we can count on for smart play. The first guy that comes to mind is Brevin Knight, someone like him. And Durant is a different situation. First of all, Ray Allen is in his 30's and Durant is 19 with a BOATLOAD of potential. And secondly, he will be able to play the 4 as well. You obviously can't pass up on a kid of his caliber and with that level of potential, but I don't think we need to go out and make deals for guys 29-30 years old at a position we don't need. Let's face it: Pierce will be here, Wally's contract is basically untradable unless you overpay to move it, TA isn't going anywhere. That's 3 guys that deserve big minutes. Pierce will play 35+, Wally will get 25 ish, TA is a 20+ mpg player. This is all assuming we deal 1-2 of West/Green/Gomes to go with it. We need to draft the best player available and then make deals for veterans to fill our needs.

Chucky Atkins? There needs to be a definite plan before you can just say "get a veteran PG". I never said Durant and Allen were similar situations. Durant can't play the 4 though; he's a toothpick. Maybe in time he'll grow and be able to but not currently. Despite that I agree you don't pass on him. This team needs everything. Pierce and Jefferson are the only untouchables, and since they can both play two positions it means at least one guy can be brought in to play ANY position. Why are Allen and Wally guaranteed over 20 per game? Even if Wally's healthy he's a liability on defense, and his offensive game isn't stellar either. Just because he makes a ton doesn't mean he has to play big minutes. As for Allen, nobody knows how he'll recover from that injury. Considering that athleticism was his best attribute, it's a real possibility he may not be the same. All I'm saying is to get the best players available, regardless of position. The C's only have two starters set in stone, and they can adjust to fit the rest of the roster. Obviously this changes slightly if we get #1 (no trading for big men) or #2 (no swingmen), but if the pick is #3 or lower then I still say deal for the best guy available.
Boston has the pieces to trade for a reliable veteran PG who can start if needed but accept backing up/sometimes playing besides Rondo.as for Allen, no he's not a priority aquisistion for the C's, but if Seattle calls inquiring, they should make an offer to get him. 2 man game with Allen and Jefferson with Paul on the weakside ?!?!?niiice.
I'd like to see them trade Delonte for Brevin Knight or Saurus Jasikevicous. Charlotte would probably do that trade, but I'm not sure about Golden State. It's not like Jasikevicous is exactly playing much there though.
I don't want Jasikevicius. I know Ainge made an offer when he came into the league, but he is certainly not what we need at ALL. A backup caliber point guard who has size and can shoot, but can't defend and even lost his job in Indiana (with an often injured Tinsley). I would like Knight a lot though. EDIT: I just realized LL33 said he'd trade Delonte for Saras. You are the only Celtic fan that would do that.
I just thought of this right now after looking through this thread. Since u have said u want a shooter and a PG, I think this is a decent deal. I dont watch the Celtics at all tho so dont get all pissed if it terrible lol.Celtics Get: Jason Williams, Antoine WalkerHeat Get: Theo Ratliff, Sebastian Telfair, Delonte WestBoston wants to rid themselves of Telfair and add a veteran PG and Miami wants to rid themselves of Walker's contract and add youth. This would work for both teams IMO and I think it works capwise.

Antoine Walker is playing the worst basketball of his career by far, his contract is one of the ugliest in the league, and J-Will is overpaid and injury prone. I would much rather not make that deal at all and use Ratliff's contract to pay off an Al Jefferson extension. This deal would be terrible for our cap situation and if that happened Ainge would be killed by a mob of fans.

And your right, at this point in his career he's just throwing up 3's and missing, atleast he made a few back in Boston. He did show signs of his old play in the playoffs but that was for like one game.

Antoine wasn't originally a 3-point shooter to be honest. Jim O'Brien turned him into a 3-point shooter in my opinion. Antoine used to be such a good post player and an aggressive rebounder.

He can make plays and doesn't make silly mistakes. He's a veteran that could take some of the pressure off Rondo. The team will be a mess defensively anyway with Doc coaching no matter who is on the roster. After thinking about it I do really like Delonte, so maybe they could throw in something else. He just doesn't really fit on the current roster and has trade value.
