    Appalachian State beats Louisiana 27-17

Another second-half statement from Appalachian State’s defense. Another strong rushing performance from Darrynton Evans.

It added up to another Sun Belt Conference victory for the Mountaineers.

Evans rushed for a career-high 183 yards on 26 carries and scored two touchdowns, including a tiebreaking one on a 20-yard reception late in the first half, as App State remained unbeaten in league play with a 27-17 home win against Louisiana on Saturday at Kidd Brewer Stadium.

Appalachian St. rolls past Middle Tenn. in N.O. Bowl, 45-13

While the future of Appalachian State interim coach Mark Ivey is unknown, Mountaineers players left no doubt about how much they appreciated the way he handled his lone game in charge, carrying him off the field in triumph.

"It was an honor," said Ivey, a former Appalachian State player who took over when Scott Satterfield left for Louisville two weeks ago. "I'm glad that the kids think enough about me to want to celebrate with me and have fun because I love every one of those kids. They are exceptional."

Appalachian State receiver Malik Williams passed for two touchdowns on trick plays, quarterback Zac Thomas caught a scoring pass and threw for three more, and the Mountaineers routed Middle Tennessee 45-13 in the New Orleans Bowl on Saturday night.

App State beats North Carolina 34-31 on blocked final FG

Darrynton Evans and these Appalachian State Mountaineers earned their very own Michigan moment -- complete with a game-ending blocked field goal.

Another thrilling victory over a behemoth of a program? Sure. But these Mountaineers don't count it as much of an upset.

Evans rushed for three touchdowns, and Akeem Davis-Gaither blocked a 56-yard field goal attempt on the final play of their 34-31 victory over North Carolina on Saturday in the programs' first meeting in nearly 80 years.

Thomas, No. 24 Appalachian State roll past La.-Monroe 52-7

Appalachian State coach Eli Drinkwitz has a daily reminder for his football team: Do it better than it has ever been done before.

The Mountaineers are working on that.

Zac Thomas threw for 214 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another score and No. 24 Appalachian State beat Louisiana-Monroe 52-7 on Saturday for the Mountaineers' first victory as a Top 25 team.

No. 21 Appalachian State routs South Alabama, 30-3

No. 21 Appalachian State has proven to be explosive on offensive and opportunistic on special teams this season. On Saturday, at a rain-soaked Ladd-Peebles Stadium, the Mountaineers relied on a dominating defense to roll to a 30-3 victory over South Alabama.

Georgia Southern stuns No. 20 Appalachian State again

When Georgia Southern quarterback Shai Werts kept the ball on an option play instead of pitching out, he looked up to see one thing.

"Field, just field," Werts said of his 55-yard touchdown run.

There was plenty of open field for Eagles ball carriers Thursday night at Kidd Brewer Stadium.

Wesley Kennedy ran for 145 yards and two touchdowns, Werts ran for 87 yards and Georgia Southern racked up 335 yards on the ground behind their triple-option offense to upset No. 20 Appalachian State for the second straight season, 24-21.

Evans scores 3 TDs, No. 23 App State tops Texas State 35-13

Darrynton Evans was recruited to Appalachian State as a slot receiver.

He's carved out a pretty solid niche at tailback.

Evans ran for 154 yards and three second-half touchdowns and No. 23 Appalachian State avoided another home upset with a big second half to beat Texas State 35-13 on a rain-soaked Saturday.
