It's not even that I'm overrating Bonner. I know he's a one-dimensional player and definitely wouldn't give him a JYD sized contract. The main problem I have is that if we let him go, we lose a lot more than a backup 4. He's 3 pt. shooting, some rebounding, decent defence, and hustle. Those are all things that you could find in other players, but unless he's keeping it a secret, it doesn't look like Babcock is looking at any other free agents. Babcock shouldn't give him a 2-3 mill contract, but if has to let him go, how are we going to replace the void that Marshall and Bonner leave? We don't have people who can really fill that void. Pape still hasn't developed an effective game. Slokar is not even close to replacing Bonner. And I'm hoping they use Charlie as more than just a shooter. If we don't sign Bonner or find someone to replace him, the Raps will have taken a step back in this offseason. Who knows? That may be a better for the ultimate goal of a young athletic team, but it makes not trading Marshall at the trade deadline pretty pointless.

We definatly should've traded Marshall at the deadline for at least something, even if it was for a 2nd round pick. Anything is better than getting diddly squat for Donyell Marshall.

For real, this off season isn't looking good already for the Raps.

I agree. Looking into this offseason, it was ok in our eyes that Marshall was walking away, because of the fact that Bonner was "supposed" to be re-signed. But now its becoming more and more apparent that we are losing both of them. However, maybe losing Bonner would be for the better. Maybe Sow will somehow elevate his game as a result of increased minutes, or maybe Araujo will somehow prove to be serviceable. I don't want to say, "We're screwed" right off the bat because we didn't sign Bonner back. Instead, I'll wait till I see how the team works together, minus a Marshall, a Palacio, and possibly a Bonner, before judging on the team's performance during the offseason.
