If phoenix makes good use of thier two first round picks coming from NY (remember they still have thier own so they will have 2 first rounders in two upcoming seasons) whether by trade or draft they may have hosed NY in this deal. Which is rare for a team giving up a star of Marbury's caliber without getting one in return. It is possible that bot NY and Phoenix miss the playoffs this year giving the Suns two shots at a top 3 pick. Either way, two lottery picks is nothing to sneeze at and provides them with some serious trade leverage. Especially with thier newfound cap space. Hmmm...I smell a sign and trade this summer.
omg lol......... how did Isiah Thomas get Suns to accept this trade such a rip off to Phoenix, but if they are trying to clear the salary cap, which they are doing they're probably done for the rest of the season, without Marbury and Penny. I have a strong feeling Kobe is going to stay with the Lakers even though his contact expires, a lot of competition going around from teams getting to sign Kobe on the 04-05 season....... but i hope he stays with the Lakers... Lakers are a really good team with the top coach, and the big four... if he lets say if Phoenix does sign him he wouldnt have much help there just like Iverson stuck in Philly. They're thinking too highly for Milos Vujanic, just like when the Wizards drafted Kwame Brown on first pick, he isnt much of a help for that team
No matter what anyone says the Suns did not get ripped off. Look at the current state of the roster: 2 legitimate stars in Shawn Marion and Amare Stoudamire 4 young and talented players who are already good enough to help the team: Leandro Barabosa, Milos Vujanic, Maciej Lampe, Zarko Carbarkapa. 2 of the Knicks 1st round draft picks (and all of thier own) which means they have a good chance of owning 2 lottery picks in the '04 draft. A respectable amount of cap space for the next couple of seasons. And everyone's contract on this team is tradeable. With cap space, a bevy of young talent and extra 1st rounders this team is capable of landing some VERY big fish through trade/sign and trade. Think about it. If the Suns offred up Marion and two lottery picks they could make a serious offer for any player in the league not named Shaq or Duncan. Also consider that this team, with marbury, was not good enough to contend with Dallas, LAL, Sacramento and San Antonio. Phoenix gave up thier star player, but NY gave up its future and now Phoenix has the brightest future of any team in the league. I love this trade for Phoenix. As long as they make good use of thier extra picks they will not regret dealing Marbury. P.S.- Check out Barabosa's first game as a starter: 11-18 from the field for 27 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 3 steals. Not too shabby
they should have traded of Shawn Marion instead of Marbury, if they aquire Kobe from free agency, Bryant and Marbury would totally make a fantastic backcourt, with Amare..... and poor Iverson needs help in Philadelphia all his teammates are scrubs

Yes there is, and I will let you figure that out.

But lets just let Knick fans think that the hometown boy will lead them to the finals. And save the failing hometown franchise.

Knicks fans just want their team to compete again...Not about titles at this stage.

Knick fans really think that this backcourt of Houston & Marbury, now make them the best team in the East. Knick fans are not about building, they want an instant fix. And they think they have that in Marbury. When reality is he is a top 2 talent at the point guard slot. but far from being about winning.

Although I know what you are saying.New York is a place where wins are the only option. With Marbury the Knicks have one of the best backcourts in the eastern conference so I can see how Knicks fans get excited at the thought of that duo teaming up.Deep down all Knicks fans should know their team is not going to suddenly change overnight. It will take time for the Knicks franchise to be where it was at during the early 90's
NY gets a good scoring backcourt but now the defensive legacy Jeff Van Gundy created has been demolished. Look for Keith Van Horn to go now.
