The van before the "bombs" was a cry for help.

When was a the last time an actor assassinated a president?
This coming from a crazy left winger that beats his ladies.
No accuse for comments like that no matter who you are or where you are.

Lake Oswego does have a lot of Republicans but it has even more Democrats. It's a highly educated town and higher education levels tend not to vote for Trump.
I've seen a few Teslas in Lake Oswego but never anywhere else. There's money galore here.
The fire department's emergency medical team has already saved my life when I went into an insulin coma and my wife called 911. I woke up to a team of fire department medical team members in my family room. Ask me how I like the city services here. They were here in less than 10 minutes.
Almost no crime here. People drive more polite and they really take care of their yards. The parks are really wonderful and the schools are excellent.
Great place to live, kind of expensive but you do get what you pay for so there's no cheating on services. They landscape the streets for crying out loud.
I grew up here as a young child back when it was Oswego and lived like a sort of Tom Sawyer, swimming, fishing, riding my bike all over town. Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, regular at Sunday church and summer bible school. Fished in the lake and Tryon Creek. My grandmother once caught a steelhead in Tryon. Flew my model airplanes at the park in the Summer, .020s and .049s.
They changed their name to Lake Oswego when they merged with Lake Grove.

I'm against Capital punishment. It goes against my religious beliefs.
What's wrong with life in prison? It's cheaper than the death penalty.

The death penalty has no effect on those about to commit a capital punishment crime.

    Jesus. Are we all sheep?
Words are words and actions are actions.

No one on either side is holding a gun to the others head and saying follow my words or else.

Actions like this have blame that goes no further than thier own mental mindset.

So should we as a society now subvert freedom of speech because some lunatic might take the words too far and take action in his own ways?

Listen. If you told me to go push some old lady into the street because she has no productive use to society anymore, every day of my life, and i finally do it, i have no one to blame but myself.
Not you for telling me to.
You dont control my actions. I would expect to be the sole individual held accountable for my actions.
Not you or anyone else trying to influence me.
We need to be mentally stronger. Maintain a stance of what is right and not let people disuade us from that. Right or left.

I live in LO as well. Beautiful place. Lived here as a kid until I was 11, family moved to CA. Stayed there through HS and College, and then another 10 years or so. Knew the entire time I’d come back to raise a family here.

Sounds nice on paper. Not reality.
I don’t think Charles Manson killed anyone but he was pretty good at getting his followers to do it

Good point. Im sure there are a few other cases too.(the crusades?)
But by and large we have become sheeple and have lost independant thought. We follow the loudest voice without thought of what the voice is saying.

He's smart. When Trump starts rounding up Democrats he'll have proof he's a Republican. If antifa takes over he'll have his lefty forum posts to point to as proof he's a progressive. Win win.

That’s not how any of this works.

Terrorists are inspired by their enemies trash talking and threats.

    No future President was threatened.

That is the most ridiculous spin anyone could possibly put on this.

Then how would Obama be responsible for Islamic terrorist by "not condemning them"?

Born and raised in Lake Oswego.

There is no city in America that leans farther left.

well, this suspect is dumber than the average, run-of-the-mill Taliban member. Based on the charge document:
    a) if he purposefully mailed non-functional "bombs", but still included the 4 parts that allow the FBI to classify it as a bomb (trigger, charge, power supply, detonator), he still gets the full treatment of Title 18 (as an "IED", instead of just "unmailable material" or "mailing a threat to the President", which is what ricin and anthrax senders have in common with lithium battery mailers and carries 5 to 10 years). If he'd just, for instance, mailed a stick of C4 and a pocketwatch, the same effect happens ("BOMB SCARE!!") but he doesn't go away for "IED"s.
    b) if he did expect it to go off, then he's dumb because even (literal) uneducated and illiterate goat-herders can figure out how to make explosives go boom when you want them to
    c) if he did everything with knowledge that someone high up would take care of him later, he's too dumb to know that any out-of-the-ordinary monetary transfer going to him, his family or any known associates will be flagged for the rest of their lives and grounds for conspiracy later on.

Edit: Though if some of the reporting is real, and there was only inert "explosive material", then I don't think he can be convicted, based on the charge sheet. He's back to "mailing threats".

And for a bit of levity:
If Trump and the Republicans are drawing Filipino Brooklyn-born convicts who identify as Native Americans to vote for them, there's a bigger problem with the (D) party than getting some fake bombs mailed.

For those of you more hacker-savvy than me: this site shows what purports to be a real-time changing of his online records. Can things like caches, etc. easily be changed or number just photoshopped around? And who can edit a site like that? Admin, any "friend", only a hacker...? And how easy is it to fake the left side of the photo to push a wrong message?
