Exactly. People state that its good to save Paul money. They care more about PAs pockets then him!

Shouldn't shed assets to shed non-assets unless we're creating cap space, not saving on luxury tax.

oops meant to say they are not good at running the offense. they are good ball handlers but tend to ISO a little too much and do too much and it freezes out everyone else.

How can you say that when they run so many reads? I think they run the offense just fine, the thing is the best option is usually for them to take over. Thankfully we have Nurk and an entire offseason + training camp for Stotts to integrate him into the offense.

Its basically what he's asked to do. I guess my answer would be that at times I feel like him and dame get caught in the mindset of getting theirs, but I noticed down the stretch Dame especially was looking to get Nurk much more involved. I just think those two realized they didn't have a consistent third option around them, and that made it so they tried to shoulder more of the offensive load.

I would but I'd definitely only do it if all other paths have been tried and it was a guarantee.

Imagine if Dame and CJ "passed the ball". Insert any player and the result is still the same. Nurk is the one I always see as the most "unselfish" player we have.

And why would we want to trade someone who has the best production per dollar on the team, even though he had a bad year? Olshey is not going to make any deals just to get rid of contracts at this point; maybe in a year or two.

If we are getting rid of the contracts, it won't be Davis, Aminu and Harkless who we will look at first. They actually have contracts which are worth keeping.

Why is Vonley not mentioned as a trade asset? He probably has positive trade value since he is still on his cheap rookie contract.

Vonley’s situation is the same situation that Plumlee was in. Better than his expiring rookie contract. But how in the heck can we afford to re-sign him next off-season?

The Plumlee trade worked out well. We should be trading as many of our expiring contracts (except for Nurkic) for draft picks. Even if they are future draft picks.

Players with expiring contracts we should be trying to trade for draft picks, and/or, good young players on longer rookie contracts.

So you think a team will just take a guy like Meyers, Crabbe or Turner by themselves and give you something good in return?

I have zero doubt they can be moved for something good in return.

I think we understimate Crabbe and Turner a little in that we won't have to attach significant assets to them to move them somewhere, or even attach any assets at all. I think we could even get something decent in return. I mean, Crabbe for Noel was ridiculed at the time but in the end 76ers got less than that for him (Anderson is a poor player and two second round picks mean nothing to Sixers). Turner is also a decent, experienced player.

Leonard has no value whatsoever but stranger things have happened. There are 30 teams across the league, people do weird trades. Charlotte traded expiring Hibbert and a decent contract Hawes for a terrible Miles Plumlee $60M deal.

Not gonna lie, I would be disgusted with that draft. Why too high to pick Pasecniks and Dozier.

I also feel like we could get Young+48 for Aminu and 20 or 26. I wouldn't trade 15th for him.

Thad Young is exactly the sort of player we should not be looking at for significant assets (and I consider both #15 and #20 in this draft as significant assets). He will be 29 at the beginning of next season, is not really that amazing, won't help us win anything serious during his prime which will be the next 2/3 years.

I like O'Quinn a lot though and would even give up more for him. He can play two positions, is a good defender, good rebounder, can stretch the floor and probably even extend his range to a 3-point line and he is cheap as feck at around $4M a team until 2019 (final year a player option from which he will opt out though so effectively a year but he won't command more than $10M in the market). Very underrated player and one we should take a look at.
