The original source is Sean Deveney of the Sporting News. He mentioned Taj and Phoenix and Phoenix has Dragic on the block. And the source of this thread - Portland interested in Taj. Lulz that ! ;-)
I think the reason people are LOLzing that is Phoenix already has two very good PFs. The deal doesn't really help them. They would probably more interested in a SF
For Wes in the offseason. I think the scenario would be if Olshey can't afford to re-sign him, Taj is on a much better contract.
Denny, you understand the difference between rumors and someone making things up right? Blazers are rumored. Wesley is that guy looking at each roster, picking out something he likes, and giving zero thought to why Portland does it. Which is to say, they wouldn't. Not that the bulls would trade him for garbage people have mentioned here either. Makes no sense here. I don't care about stunting anyone's growth. I want to win now. But with Aldridge, kaman and Lopez, he's good for maybe 15 minutes a game here.
I think the Blazers would take Taj if it didn't cost much to get him. I also think the fans who think end of the bench guys for him would somehow be what the Bulls would do is absurd. I do think the Bulls are either likely to keep him or they'll trade him for a starting SG or SF. The starting SG or SF would be someone better than Dunleavy, not necessarily Carmelo Anthony. In fact, the latest rumor is the Bulls inquired about Tobias Harris of Orlando. Kevin Martin has been mentioned for months in rumors. That should give you an idea of where the Bulls' thinking is at.
Oh we'd definitely take him. It's just what we'd pay and what the bulls want are two very different things. Unless there was some 3 way deal where we moved Batum and got taj and a good sf as well. But I don't see it happening. Our biggest need, imo, is a scoring 2/3 off the bench. Taj is obviously better than Freeland is, but not worth it at the likely cost to us, with other needs.
The only way I can even imagine us trading for Taj (including Wes in a deal) would be this: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=pxyd3ft It would be super risky though and we'd lose size but it's hypothetical. Lillard / Blake Bradley / Crabbe / McCollum / Barton Batum / Dunleavy /Wright Aldridge / Gibson / Claver Lopez / Kaman / Leonard
The problem I have with a deal like that, or moving Batum as I mentioned is that we downgrade a 30+ minute per game spot to upgrade a 15 mpg spot, and still doesn't fill our one actual need.
