    Easy to explain. Chinese culture, there is a lot of deprecation of their own people. Hong Kong was a British colony for the longest time. Master and servant mentality. The servants keep their own in check to please the master.

    Similar to the attitude of white NBA players in America. Knicks fans didn't want to draft a white player.

    no it wasnt the color... they loved david lee... it was cuz he wasnt american... he was italian

    you're kidding me right? they boo'ed the crap out of him on draft night. But funny thing is they pretty much boo every year. Still, no one liked David Lee till AFTER he proved himself on the court. Also, Knicks are looking to trade him, lolz.

    The main reason i think he was booed is because he was foreign(Italian). I think the fans would liked to have seen a player from college rather than someone who isn't used to "American style" basketball. But of course, when was the last time they didn't boo a draft pick.

    :nod: Weiss over Artest still burns in MANY Knick fans' minds.

    not to change the topic too much, but i sure now that Artest is either retarded or bi-polar.

    If you are going to use an objective comparison via the stats, at this stage of the game, Yi is ahead of where Nowitzki was after one season.

    Having said that, Nowitzki really blossomed in his second year, so this is a big year for Yi. He has to really improve his game.

    But right now, you have to say Yi is a better player than Nowitzki after one season.
    </div>
    lots of players have had better first years than Dirk
