I'm too lazy to look this up, but what is his TS% compared to the other marque names? Personally I am OK with a slightly lower FG% because I know he gets to the line a bunch. The TS% is what I care most about.
Here's how CJ and Dame compare to some of the top players in the league this year in TS%: This isn't a complete list. Just some of the all-stars and top names. Overall, CJ and Dame are pretty solid in TS%. Only a couple of notches below Chris Paul, and a couple of notches above Mike Conley and John Wall. Man, Stephen Curry is good.
I re-watched Talkin' Ball and Quick started the whole conversation off with, "Damian gets a pass" (for tonight). He was talking about his shooting for the season which seems fair. Dame is shooting 41% from the field (that is the same as Luis Montero and just barely ahead of Noah Vonleh) and it seems reasonable that you can at least question that as 'not great'. Of course Dame is the focus of every teams defense but if he is that much of the focus, they were suggesting he be more of a facilitator and as most of us would agree, take better shots. They also all referred to his as the franchise so it's not like they were trying to tear him down at all but rather the seemingly legitimate point of him needing to play better as the franchise guy. They pretty much all agreed on the point and Orlando Williams and Isaac Ropp pointed out specific areas of need so it certainly wasn't all Quick.
A player going do what a coach going allow him to do simple. Stotts must agree what Dame is doing if not he would pull him to the side and talk to him. You got remember this is star driven league. The stars going to get there number of shots that every team. Now to this panel I don't watch them I think there a bunch of morons. Most of the times they don't know what they are talking about. Blazer win good things come out of there mouths but when they loose you get this crap coming out of there mouths.
In wins, Dame is shooting 45.8% from the field, 41% from 3, and putting up 27 ppg with 7.2 apg. In losses, Dame is shooting 38.9% from the field, 32% from 3, and putting up 23 ppg with 6.5 apg. Such a HUGE difference in efficiency. Dude just needs to shoot better and take better shots. His stats in wins this year are MVP level.
Talkin balls is much like First Take except they have less things they can take exception to. Its all aboit ratings and people will tune in either to agree or to disagree. If it was a show that didnt have two guys who taught Chris Haynes how to chase a headline then it might be a different show. Dames a great player but just like every player in the NBA he has flaws. Those flaws are highlighted when teams come out to defend and deny Lillard the ball while not caring about anyone else. If you want to talk about Dames struggles just go back to any close game in the 4th this year and watch teams double Dame and then watch as the rest of our team stands around for the majority not trying to help.
I would imagine you would see the same correlation for all the ' big name' players with only 1 star on the team... (Harden, Derozan, Butler, etc) Shoot well, & your team wins. Shoot poor & you loose.
And it's not just this year - teams have been doing this for a few years now, and Terry still doesn't have a counter punch.
