The difference is, Rik when he came into the league was 22, and weighed 250 lbs. Victor is lighter than barely heavier than Shaedon Sharpe. Yes, adding weight can be an issue, but at the same time, how many guys of his freakish height have not had injury issues or longevity issues? Is he a unicorn? Sure. But most of his competition isn't exactly tall or built like a NBA players.
I was just looking at the number of draft picks in the next draft. I am sure to no one's surprise on this board, none of trades will help get this kid. Every pick was protected. So yeah it will come down to who tanks.
What would be more Blazer-esk is they get the #2 pick putting them in position to draft another PG in Scoot STOMP
loosely related to the discussion: Holmgren hasn't played yet in the pre-season because of a foot injury
The bottom line is, even if the Blazers had the worst record, there's no guaranty of getting the ping pong balls to fall right.
I don't think he made the thread because of anything the Blazers did at all. He's buying into the Wembayamayama hype.
I was pretty hesitant about Chet's frame early on, but Wemby just looks more fluid and proportional even if he's 7'5. And he's got a really strong lower half of his body that he should be able to withstand hits in the league. I'm much more confident about his ability to stay healthy than I was Chet.
I'm aware. Notice how I'm not going about reminding people who were clowning me about my initial Chet takes here with I told you so's. Either way, comparing Wemby to Chet is not really appropriate.
I'm a little disappointed that the even-skinnier John Butler didn't get a chance to play in the Pels' first preseason game.
A couple of thoughts on this: The commitment to rebuilding/tanking should have been made when we fired Olshey. Before we traded parts of our future for Grant. Before we gave Ant such a large deal. Before we gave Dame half of Oregon as an extension. The team has looked lousy in the preseason, but there's been nothing that should change anyone's mind about how successful this team is going to be... I see our team being mediocre, best case, over the next couple of years and so I see the results so far this preseason and nod my head, thinking I have stuff figured out. Others who see a team that will challenge for HCA will look at the the results and shrug and presumably say the games don't matter, and they'll have the same optimism that the current roster will gel and stay healthy and do all the goo d things.
