He didn’t say otherwise. Reading comprehension is not your friend. He just he’d like the odds we get if we’re in 5th spot.
We don’t have try to lose. Just don’t try to win. How do you think Dallas got Luka and Memphis got Ja?
And I just said that the math says you have a better chance of getting a later pick than a better one. Nothing I wrote could be interpreted as snark. Yours on the other hand...
I understand that sentiment, but it comes at the expense of one of Dame's potential remaining playoff years. He already posted that there's "no way" he's on board with tanking. If Cronin is ready to move on from Dame next summer, sure, go ahead and piss of your star and then get the best package for him that you can in order to rebuild quicker.
That's a statement of fact which you misinterpreted as snark. The best the Blazers could reasonably get to in tanking is the 5th worst record. That gets you less than a coin flip's chance at a top 5 pick.
Of course, Joe could meet with Dame and Jody and agree to tank. You don’t tank without getting Dame onboard. He says no way now but you could change his mind. Also- if we acquire top talent in draft, Dame’s title window will be longer, not shorter.
He said it as a positive. 10% is better than 1%. Get the best odds we can get. “The math is not your friend” is not fact.
The way I see it, Cronin is at a fork in the road. Build around Dame with experienced, playoff-ready, vets, or do a full rebuild around the young guys. He can’t straddle the fence. I expect him to trade a couple of firsts and a player or two for someone who really improves the top-end experienced talent. That’s what Dame deserves. Wembanyama is likely going to be a monster…in 3 years or so.
I hear you and I agree. I just believe by nature of our injuries we'll be in 5th place from the bottom. No tanking is needed.
Im sorry, but im sooo dissapointed in you 180% change @KingSpeed . I mean i get wanting a good draft pick. But you have fallen so hard for tanking, its just hard to fathom the most positive poster here wanting them to lose. Now, im just gonna point a couple things out… Optimal reading comprehension requires clearly articulated words to read. Just sayin…
he didn't say “math is not your friend”, he said “THE math is not your friend.” Huge difference. And then you comment on reading comprehension??? Thats classic!!!!
