I predicted that Zion wouldn't be able to stay healthy.... and he hasn't. I predicted that Chet wouldn't be able to stay healthy... and he's off to a great start. I'm predicting that Wemby won't be able to stay healthy, and I guess we will see.
I just don't want the Blazers to put all their eggs into a basket built on Lottery pick one & doners. Most, which aren't ready to play and contribute. I really think the NBA needs to go back to the 7 round draft, and have minor league affiliates for each team. If the player is ready, great! But if not, develop him in the minors.
Durant was 6'9 (without shoes) and 215 lbs when he was drafted. Wemby is listed as 7'2 and 230 lbs. I guess we'll see. Dude is a twig.
The success of the Suns and their ‘all-in move” that fans think they want was built on lottery picks and four seasons of suffering. Those assets have to come from somewhere.
I'm not saying don't ever draft a player. But there is a lot of luck involved in the Lottery. NBA or state. Most great players, including Dame were Lottery picks. But most teams had to trade for assisting pieces , and sign key free agents to get it done. I want to see if Joe & Co. can add those pieces now that they've set the plan in motion. The Suns drafter Ayton, Booker, and Bridges in the Lottery. They used Bridges to help get them Durant. The Blazers , hopefully can make the playoffs, and have access to future draft capital after pick to Chi conveys. Thus setting into motion the ability to make a Major trade to acquire a big piece, or pieces to the puzzle.
Cronin's mega reserve player Gary Payton turned out to be a scam. 2 rookies and the better components of last year's tank is the bench unit Cronin constructed. So when all the starters are out like last evening, there are tank similarities, but 1 game doesn't become a tank. A lot of teams rest starters for a game. The Sacramento loss was the first time all season Coach pulled the plug on what's left of the core unit. Cronin adding 4 able bodies to the team after the trade deadline, helps Billups throw a variety of lineups together that don't include Lillard/Grant/Simons.
I guess I disagree with you that this team is done acquiring assets through the draft. Bridges was a 10 pick. Cam came later. You need lottery luck but you also need ace talent evaluation.
Chicago added Beverly, it appears they are not interested in tanking and are mauling the Nets tonight. Should be no problem passing them and Lakers in the tankathon. Not expecting to get Wembanyama but a high lottery pick would be a valuable asset to use in a trade.
I hope, if the Blazers luck into the #1 pick, that he's all that he's hoped to be. But dude is skinny af.
Nice cherry picking on a few of your predictions. Having rolled my eyes at umpteen of your predictions (Hell you wrote glowing reviews of Martell comparing him favorable to MJ), you're right less often then a broken clock ...and good grief, Jabar was 22 when he hit the league while VW just turned 19 in January so in the comparison pics you posted, at the very least Kareem is 4 years older. Open question to the forum... is anyone here the same weight (or lighter) then when they were 18? STOMP
Love you too cupcake. I don’t remember ever comparing Martell Webster to Michael Jordan 20 years ago, but since my biggest fan remembers it that way, it must be true.
He has a point though. Can you find a picture of Kareem as a freshman in college? I don’t know, but that would be the apt comparison, would it not?
Ahh missed it on my phone. Sorry. Yeah, still looks thicker. Senior year? Need a freshman pic to be sure, but he sure looks bigger boned and meatier.
