I don't see them interested in sending Bazemore. You add a better player in the deal from them and take away one of the better pieces for them.

We need insurance for Moe as well, that's probably what is driving this more than anything.

I don't want him landing in OKC. Their wing spot was kinda lacking, but if they land Prince, they can move PG down a slot and run a lineup of Russ-PG-Prince-Grant-Adams that would be a nightmare to stop or score against.

Found this excerpt from an interview with their GM over on the Hawks' forum: https://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?p=71740024#p71740024

I'm really hoping that the interest in Lin (if true) is because we're ready to move on from Turner's role and contract.

If Atlanta isn't willing to add salary for more picks that is where Sacramento could come into play. Send ET and our 1st to Sacramento. Atlanta gets Swanigan, Labissiere, and one of Sacramento's expiring deals like Randolph. Blazers get Lin and Prince?

Why does Atlanta take on a huge salary for an extra year? They could likely get a as good of a deal for Prince without Linn attached and then let Linn expire. If they wanted Turners huge contract they could save money by signing Prince.

I'm not sure what Atlanta's mindset is. They've certainly made some weird moves since last season. If I had to guess I would think that they aren't going to be major free agent players this summer but could load up on more draft picks and then by the summer of 2020 you could have a super young talented roster with tons of cap space since everyone would be expired or on rookie deals.

I know you are aware of this, but another angle would be to get below the cap and rather than sign a free agent, search out a team that is in the luxury tax to acquire a player with little to nothing in return.

Even with Turner added to the mix, they could have as much as $29 million in cap space. Factoring in their draft picks still puts them well below the cap. It just comes down to whether or not they'd rather have another 1st round pick and push their cap space into 2020 or if they really need like $40 million in cap space this summer. As long as Bazemore and Plumlee are on their books next year I would guess that they'd be fine punting a year for more young talent, but that is just a guess.

More importantly people need to realize that Torrance, California is not in Asia.

Prince should go to the Wolves or Kings....imagine how many purple Prince jerseys they would sell! Probably the Wolves since no Prince wants to be surrounded by Kings.

If this was your team, T-Rob would still be on the roster...

Prince definitely would be up grade in our small forward position. Especially with Harkless knee problem.

Their GM said as much: They're definitely playing the long game, as they should.

I love studying other team's situations cap wise. I know what I think doesn't matter but if I was the GM of the Hawks I'm absolutely looking to add picks for contracts as long as they end in 2020.

Assuming they trade Prince, this is what their books look like for the summer of 2020:

Total guaranteed Salary of just $15,459,302 with...
    John Collins
    Trae Young
    Kevin Huerter
    Omari Spellman

Plus add in their 1st round pick in 2019 (currently 5th), Dallas 2019 1st (currently 10th), and 3 2nd rounders (currently 35th, 41st, and 48th). Then their 1st rounder in 2020 which will likely be another lottery pick. They have the Cavs 1st rounder this year or next year but it's top-10 protected so they might not get it. Factoring in these draft picks lets say that adds about $20 or so million to their cap in 2020 then that leaves them in the summer of 2020 with a loaded roster of rookie deal talent (still stupid of them to trade Doncic but that can't be changed) and only about $36 million for about 10 players. The cap is expected to be $118 million so that would be about $80 million in pure legit cap space with all those young players for what should be an up and coming team at that point. Other than the Doncic mess up, that is a near perfect rebuild set up.

Yup, I viewed them as a perfect place to dump a contract. I just don’t know if Olshey would seriously consider trading Turner considering where we are in the playoff race. Fans might not like him but he’s a big part of what they do, and is an influence in the locker room. Meyers and now maybe even Moe (especially if we’re getting Prince) could be options though.

I'm worried that Moe's knee would make him impossible to trade this season.

He’s just a contract in this scenario.
