My memory matches yours in regard to Dirk and Malone.

Memphis lost to Minny once, and almost the second time. They also lost to Utah twice.

    Just sayin'

Sure but they are below us in DEF EFF. I'd rate them above average too, just like us.

But, again IMO (in my opinion) the top 3 in overall DEF EFF I would consider "elite defensive teams".

GS, MIL, Houston (as much as that last one makes me cringe to say)

I think you need to give credit for the improvement. It's in the numbers...I don't think they bring their highest intensity all the time. They pick and choose when they do. The main thing is the framework I believe is in place for that elite D. Which was my point above. Another year of polishing. They will be that much better.

    I don't think so... http://www.teamrankings.com/nba/stat/defensive-efficiency

We are 7th, they are 3rd.

Either way, they were not better as it was stated. But then again I guess it goes off of what list people are using! LOL

Are people complaining about our defense against the Mavs in the game in which Dirk scored 10 and we held Dallas to 75 Points?

No I think they're talking about this one: http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201502070DAL.html

The one where Dirk scored 25 and we held them to 111.

Interesting to note Dame and Wes played the best defense that night.

Not to be mockful and this will irritate some but an elite defense would have clamped down and got a stop when they needed it this evening.

And Wes would have been on Wade.

You mean like when Memphis needed a stop that one time? Or that other time when they needed it and didn't? I mean, lets compile a list here.

There is no doubt, he is missed. I also made that point above. Defense in the end is a team effort.

Elite defensive teams fail, too. I thought that was obvious. And logical.

It might have been obvious don't know if it was logical.

Do elite defenses stop scorers 100% of the time in crunch?

    Logically, no.

    See?
