I would do lamb popsicles for appetizers if i could pull it off but its $$$$. Had some at a dinner the other night....fantastic! I'm thinking of roasting some garlic for the mashed potatos....I actually bought a ricer at williams sonoma a few years ago just for thanksgiving.
Maybe make a Shirley Temples (no one drinks at our parties for some reason). Maybe some mock mojitos would be good too....
oooh...just thouht about ordering some chowder from Pike Place Chowder in seattle....this is seriously the best shit I've ever had..they have this Scallp Chowder which is like a religious experience. http://www.pikeplacechowder.com/index.htm $21 for a half gallon...i wonder how many servings that is...mabye 3-4...maybe better for a smaller dinner but if you ever get the chance...its the bomb! maybe I'll make...seems easy http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Creamy-Scallop-Chowder/Detail.aspx
Maxi: I've never had bourbon whipped cream, but it sounds good. Something we do make, though, is Bailey's whipped cream. That stuff is tooooo good. I think I'm going to pass on habanero whipped cream or stuffing after my last pepper experience.
Maxi, Homemade french fries are great. Deep fried sweet potatos or yams are good stuff too. My wife says try tempura battered mushrooms and zucchini to use that hot oil. We've done that, and they're pretty good, even if I'm not a big veggie guy. While we haven't done these, other veggies that might be good might be turnips, cauliflower, baby corn, maybe asparagus? The wife says she wants to try batter fried pickles, sweet and dill. We've never made this, but fried ice cream is great. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Fried-Ice-Cream/Detail.aspx One deep fried dish I want to try soon is mar far cat. (We have 3, so we can spare 1-2)
You 'da man! My wife was all over the tempura idea! We always make an evening "light" meal after Thanksgiving and tempura vegetables and shrimp are now on the menu!
