(alternate Mariner Universe, Felix just gave up another dinger); Rick Adair: Go get him? Wak: No, let's see how he reacts. Niehaus: Well Wak is aparently going to stick with Felix here as the Mariners trail 8-0. Coleman steps in - a .281 lifetime hitter. Johnson with the sign; Felix into the motion with his pitch. [Felix beans Coleman between the shoulderblades] Rizzs: Uh oh! Wak: Interesting. Harry: 'Bout time, it's 8-0. Umpire: [To Felix]: You! You're gone! Hernandez: What?! Umpire: You heard me, you're gone! Felix: He was right on top of the plate! Wak: I think you can go get him now.
Thank you for being our slump busters :] If you guys can't nail Joe Saunders tonight, just throw in the towel. I can't believe analysts thought that Seattle had a legit shot @ this division. Their offense looked horrible to start the year. I honestly think this is Texas' division to lose right now. It depends on how they play over the summer, once that heat and humidity hits them. They tend to fall off once that happens.
Despite this huge losing streak, it's still early in the year. The pitching has been there, so as long Mariners can get a bat or two, they are still in this race as the AL West is a joke right now.
I'll be happy if this team averages 1.5 runs a game! God, this is horrible. I haven't lost faith yet, it's a good thing (for our sake) that this season is 160+ games.
Well, two decent games since the hitting coach was fired. For all of the (justified) questioning of Griffey's use as DH and the need to get another bat, we also have a power-hitting cleanup guy who's batting .214 with 1 homer in 32 games (Lopez). We have two minor-league callups in Josh Wilson and Mike Saunders who've, in the last week, had more extra-base hits than our combined DHs all season, our combined C's all season, and our .188-batting #2 hitter. Speaking of "Figgy", who's doing a decent job getting on base (25 walks will up that OBP something fierce), our #2 and #3 hitters are both on pace for 160 K's. Not sure that's good in a small-ball offense.
Mariners are a sight for sore eyes. All our acquisitions have been duds except Cliff Lee. Mariners really need to get a bat ASAP. Maybe Scott Rolen for 3B when the Reds fall out of contention and maybe Milton Bradley comes back w/ a straight head to take over that DH spot
How come none of ya'll are up in the Jays forum And I'm a low pro Seattle Mariners fan, don't know why but I am.
I don't know a lick about Toronto Blue Jays baseball except Morrow is getting massive amounts of K's there
Massive choke job by Brandon League on an unbelievable game by everyone else. Just WOW! King Felix throws 7 innings giving up only 1-Run, while we get 3 Homers from our lineup (Sweeney, Ichiro, Saunders) to give us a 5-1 lead going into the bottom of the 8th....then League gives up a leadoff homer, loads the bases, and a GS to lose it. GOOD FUCKING JOB MORON!
Hey hey, I'm a closet Blue Jays fan, but when i've tried posting there, nobody has even bothered to respond.
just saw today's game on the DVR, and it's hard to watch. First, another pitching performance that goes 7 shutout innings wasted. Oh well. Here's my gripe about today. Our slow-moving catcher hurts his knee/ankle/whatever n a two-run game running to first base. Instead of pinch-running for him with someone fast (or even, heaven forbid, the other catcher) he's left in the game. On what should've been a double by Ichiro that either scored the 3rd run or moved to 2nd and 3rd with 1 out, the runners are stopped at 1st and 2nd. Amazingly enough, a double-play ball happens on the next pitch. Then in the 9th we get a man to 2nd with none out, and go grounder-that-doesn't-advance-the-runner, popout, third out. then they win on the next batter's homerun.
Alright I'm okay with trading lee now..It'd probably take more and florida aren't contenders but I'd love to get hanley since him and the coach aren't seeing eye to eye... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Man, at this point, I don't know. On nights when we get 5 runs off of the opponents' ace/bullpen, our bullpen gives up the lead and then loses a tie after we battle back. On nights when the starters go 7 shutout, we lose 2-1 or 1-0 on a no-offense, bad-bullpen day. Hard to win like that.
