    A) who gives a fuck about credibility here of all places?!
    B) Robinson is better than Hickson at two things: being cheap and playing off the bench.
    C) Hickson made some truly boneheaded decisions on defense; even being neutrally meh on defense will make Robonson better.
    D) this conversation would sure look smarter after 50 games... Like you guys were invested in something other than pretending to be master debaters on the Internet.

The conversation was about Robinson's potential, but a few people wanted to take issue with the statement that Hickson was his floor. Apparently we'll be lucky if Robinson ends up being as good as JJ Hickson.

Yikes. You couldn't get the context from the previous posts, which my post clearly referenced? You didn't see my mention of the "worst-cas scenario"? I clearly wasn't talk about the "now". If you couldn't understand the context from the few posts previous to mine discussing T-Rob and his potential versus J.J. Hickson...... I'm willing to bet you didn't do too well on that part of standardized tests and SAT's growing up.

Look, all we know is what a player is capable of right now. Any projection is just a guess. So, when you talk about worst case scenarios, you're talking out of your ass when you're looking to the future. All I care about is what the two guys bring to the table right now, and in that comparison, Hickson is much better offensively. Future refinement is a complete nonsense concept. You can hope all you want that someone refines their game, but there's no guarantee.

It's quite simply a stupid comment to say that Hickson is TRob's floor. Right now, Hickson is a much better player offensively (I'm definitely not defending his defensive prowess) and we have no way of knowing that that will change.

Do you honestly think that Hickson will improve much more than what he is now? The entire point is that Robinson has a lot of growing to do. At worst, down the road, he'll be Hickson. At best he could be something special. Of course we're talking out our ass. That's what comparisons and projections are all about. Nobody knows what the future holds for him, or Hickson, or anyone else. It's all just based on gut feelings.

Nobody was comparing Hickson and Robinson now. That wasn't even the point of the discussion. They aren't even playing the same position or fulfilling the same role on the team. Robinson is the backup power forward. Hickson was our starting center. Future improvement (no idea why you're stuck on the word "refinement") is why we took a low risk gamble on the guy.

No duh, we have no clue how T-Rob progresses. But people were talking about his future, and that's what I responded to. This is a sports message board. We do talk about all sorts of things, including "what ifs" or potential. "Potential" is the one thing we constantly talk about. It weighs heavily in every decision that is made in all sports. That was the conversation.

Clearly, nobody in their right mind would say T-Rob is the better offensive player at this very moment. For one, we haven't seen what he can do or cannot do, as he played extremely limited minutes last year. We saw a lot of JJ last year, and he had solid stats. That being said, let's not overrate JJ, either. He makes a lot of mistakes on the offensive end. He's fairly limited, overall, though he's a good clean-up guy to have around the bucket.

But if we're talking about the hear-and-now, we should be comparing JJ to Lopez. JJ wasn't going to come off the bench for us. And if he comes off someone's bench, he certainly wouldn't be happy with the minutes he'd have gotten coming off our bench. He wasn't going to supplant LMA at PF. JJ was our center last year. So, if you're talking about today, I'd say I'd rather have Lopez at center (and T-Rob off the bench) versus JJ Hickson.

This way of thinking would have NOLA trade Anthony for Hickson straight up.

There's no point arguing with someone who won't stick to one position. There's really no point arguing about it in the first place.

And what position was that? We didn't keep Hickson. We kept Aldridge. I advocated for trading Aldridge, and I still think it's probably the right move. For some reason you guys keep wanting to compare Hickson from last year to our backup power forward of this year.
