Does this mean we're trading him by Thursday's deadline? Maybe we're waiving him?

If he can't be combined with any other Blazer player in a trade, what can we possibly get for him?

Toronto could use a PG badly to backup FVV, get a 2nd rd pick and trade him for their Dragic expiring then buy Dragic out

This frees up our future picks for this move.
    upload_2022-2-7_17-9-10.png
Then this would be our final move and Toronto might grab a third team because Ant doesn't fit on their roster but I think the value makes sense for both teams.
    upload_2022-2-7_17-12-12.png

We end up going into next season with Dame, Nas, OG, Grant, Hayes, Hart, Nance, MLE and our FRP as our rotation. I think that's a team that doesn't necessarily have two all stars on it but could still contend.

My guess is they’re playing it safe with Bledsoe. He could play but no need to push it if he’s on the block.

That trade puts us back in the luxury tax, so it only works if we have another trade that sends out more salary than it brings in by at least 500k.

That's a tough one. OG is a two way player who is at a position of need for us. But Nurk is also a two way player whose advanced stats are a little bit better than OG's.

    Funny story actually...

A couple months ago someone tagged CJ in a clip of me telling Chauncey to hold CJ accountable for playing bad defense. Next thing I know he follows me and DM's me an explanation of the play and why I was wrong. We actually had a good back and forth about it (he mansplained a zone defense like I wouldn't know what that is). His answers made me feel better about him at least trying to be part of the solution instead of the problem. Then we talked briefly about becoming a dad soon and about Chauncey. I was expecting him to unfollow me but he didn't. I'm sure he muted me afterwards but he's a good dude. Made me feel kinda bad for talking so much shit.

That's awesome. Say what you want about CJ but he's a great guy and is more mature than other pro athletes by a wide margin.

Just one crazy idea but first what I think is going on with the Pelicans trade, if that guy had any of it correct is Cronin negotiating the contingencies for the protections on the two first rounders. I'm betting that on the Lakers 2022 first, if it doesn't convey (which it won't) Cronin wants one of the three first rounders in 2024 and he should be willing to accept the worse of the Lakers and Milwaukee. If the Pelicans 2023 first doesn't convey he should accept the other of the two additional picks in 2024. That being said here is my crazy idea...

I know it almost has no possibility of working out because of all of the teams and moving parts but if we can work out something reasonable on what the concessions are if the supposed two firsts from NOLA aren't initially conveyed, then I think the Pistons part of the trade will be easy to get them to agree to, the Philly part really all rides on how they value Ant. Grant is a good piece, so if they project Ant as an all star and believe he gives them a much better chance than their current back court to win a chip, especially with that back court coming off the bench, then I think they'd pull the trigger... even though it means having to pay up this off season.

I won't get into what this means for NOLA because supposedly this is their offer. I'm not going to get into what it means for the Pistons because they get picks, are tanking and in the middle of a youth rebuild. I won't even get into what it means for our roster this season because guys are injured. The Sixers though would have a rotation of Ant, Thybulle, Grant, Harris, Embiid, Maxey, Seth, Green, Shake, Niange, Drummond and Korkmaz. That team is a lot better and deeper than what they have right now. Obviously they can't play all of those guys.

I will say that they should get this done as soon as possible because they should then trade Nurk for a better fitting piece but next season assuming we don't move Nurk we would have: Dame, Hart, Nas, Simmons, Nurk, Larry, Hayes, MLE, GB3, Johnson, Murphy and Reed under contract assuming we can keep Nurk.

    upload_2022-2-8_2-13-13.png

The follow up trade with Nurk is difficult to know what to do with. I know that Toronto is the team that has been most connected to him. We would likely waive Watanabe. Assuming we re-signed Boucher we would go into next season with: Dame, Hart, Nas, Simmons, Hayes, Boucher, Larry, MLE, Toronto FRP, Flynn, Murphy, Reed, Johnson and GB3 that's a full roster. Like I said, extremely unlikely but I do think that squad would be terrible for any team to have to deal with... so much shooting, so much defense, so much versatility and so much depth. An experienced rotation with a nice amount of young guys behind them.

    Creative ideas.

However, Philly won't accept Simons or Grant as the best player for Simmons.

I don't see the point in us trading for Simmons now. Even with your in the Blazers favor trade(s) we wouldn't be close to a contender. Losing 2 starters for 3 scrubs means we are rebuilding.

Fischer’s latest report says Portland and nurk have mutual interest in a new contract and a trade is unlikely. But then he also keeps the Turner possibility alive and mentions Bledsoe as a money match. He also mentions some of the assets received in a McCollum trade being flipped.

Could the plan be Turner at PF? He’s essentially what they wanted Zach Collins to be. Also a better theoretical fit next to Nurk than Sabonis since Nurk is a much better defensive player, and can anchor while Turner is better fit as a help defender since he struggles with size and isn’t a good rebounder. Offensively Turner has no post game and is pretty much just a face up guy. Idk, but that would be pretty intriguing.

i really don’t want us to resign Nurk. We need a mobile defensive big.

my opinion is that simons, little & nurk improvement in play since they got bigger roles was a significant reason why they decided to part ways with powell & cj mccollum, as they (especially cj mccollum) are no longer needed as someone to help dame lillard, we can do without them and also it showed how much better team looked with simons, little & nurk, much better ball & player movement, everyone got touches and seemed happy and therefore everyone gave their best effort on both ends of the floor

it also shows blazers want to play inside-out bball and it shows chauncey billups really likes nurk

that being said, lets see if this come to fruition...

So if we just did a more realistic version of the CJ trade that was tweeted out yesterday by some dude without a check next to his name and then traded the draft assets we got in that trade along with Bledsoe to Indy for Turner we would go into next season... assuming a re-signed Nurk and Ant and that we don't re-sing Satoransky. We would have Dame, Ant, Nas, Turner, Nurk, Hart, Larry, Hayes, Winslow, Johnson and GB3 all under contract with the rights to match for Trendon if we make him a qualifying offer. We would have the full MLE assuming it only took the draft picks NOLA gave us to get Turner we would have a second rounder to. That's fourteen players right there... a full roster.

I fucking hate the idea that we're going to continue to start a no defense back court but other than that, this would be a competitive roster. That's a ton of good defenders for the post and a couple of good perimeter defenders. This roster would make the playoffs and have a good chance at getting out of the first round and therefore a good chance at winning some more games after that. I hardly think it's a contender though.

I think Grant has to be on the list of 35 players the Sixers would consider and I think Ant is a player that Morey could like enough to be the complementary piece in getting Simmons but that is just reasonable value for Simmons and up to this point Morey has been demanding unreasonable value for him. As far as contending goes if all of this shit came together and obviously that's unlikely and if Hayes could just provide the shot blocking a offensive floor spreading that Simmons would need to flourish. Hart and Nas are a couple of defensive stalwarts that can knock down open jumpers. Boucher and Larry are great pieces coming off the bench. We would need to hit with the MLE probably another perimeter 3 and D guy that can run an offense. Hopefully we would get something good in the draft. I think if all of that happened just the first part would be a miracle so coupling a miracle with us actually getting what we need with the MLE is something beyond a miracle, so that's probably in the territory of impossible. It's a nice dream though.

If that impossible shit did all happen though, despite the sabotage that the Norm/RoCo trade was, we would have the best collection of talent around Dame that he's had and the talent is complementary of each other and Dame. So we wouldn't be favorites but we'd be dark horse contenders. Who the fuck cares, this shit isn't happening. Let's see how the next 53 hours plays out and then decide how fucking pissed we are.
