too bad it’s Kevin O’Connor who dropped that. Atlanta was one of the teams connected to Powell ( I’d probably even do CJ)

Powell and Nance for Collins and filler? If they wanted a first we could use Roco to get one.

i am really warming to the idea of Collins as our second P&R big alongside Nurk. Unfortunately, ATL has really clicked as of late and are winning a ton. Not sure they'd be inclined to make a big move this deadline.

Or a three way trade between the Blazers, Pels, and Hawks that sends CJ to NO and Norm/Roco or Norm/Nance to ATL and nets Portland John Collins, Josh Hart, Herb Jones and other pieces/picks

Not if we could get Ben Simmons for Ant. I like Collins, but Siakam or Simmons would be better. If we're going to give him up, you get back an all-star.

Ant hasnt proven anything long enough to warrant an all star coming back. It was one month. Be realistic. No sane (or an even insane morey) GM would take a one month hot streak from a player and trade an all star for him. Thats ridiculous.

I think Collins might be better than Siakam.

i might be amongst the few who prefer Hart to Jones anyway. I don't think Jones' 3pt shooting is sustainable given his track record in college. Good defender, no doubt, but he's also a 23 yr old rookie. On a good team, I think he's a good backup small ball center. Hart is a starter caliber wing who plays good team ball, decent defense, and is on a VERY reasonable contract for a 26 yr old vet.

Josh Hart would have the highest TS% on our team this year outside of Zeller, and he's a wing.

forget about Simmons. The impasse between Morey & Simmons is toxic but unending.

    that leaves Collins vs Siakam:

    upload_2022-2-4_11-0-3.png

depend on what you want from a PF I guess. Now, those above are just this season's numbers. Career numbers:

    upload_2022-2-4_11-5-2.png

Collins has a huge advantage in shooting efficiency, including a career mark of .384 from three. He's also a superior rebounder on both ends of the floor. Siakam might have an edge on defense and a bigger edge as a playmaker.

Collins has 4 more years on his contract at 25M/year. Siakam has 2 more years at 35M/year

    I'd take Collins over Siakam

Arguably on the offensive end. No chance in hell on the defensive end. Siakam is a winner. Collins is also not the passer Siakam is.

GMs have paid players for a lot less so I obviously disagree. I think it's a good bet to suggest that Ant's numbers go way up if the ball is in his hands. With CJ and Powell, Ant is back to playing background. GMs know this. Morey has said he would like a good young player back for Simmons.

Perhaps Collins can work his way up but Siakam is far superior defensively than Collins, which is what we need. Siakam is more versatile as well and a proven winner. But perhaps Collins has room to get better. I think he would be a good get as insurance if Nurk was to go down again.
