Connaughton, No. 21 Notre Dame beat Purdue 94-63

Notre Dame was already well on its way to routing Purdue when Demetrius Jackson really revved up the Irish fans.

Jackson emphatically dunked over 7-foot-2 center Isaac Haas with 13:40 left Saturday, bringing the Notre Dame crowd to its feet at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

"I just wanted to finish strong and have a play that kind of set the tone and just ignite our team," Jackson said after the 94-63 romp over Purdue in the Crossroads Classic.

Virginia holds Harvard to one field goal in first half en route to rout

Mike Tobey is the X factor for No. 6 Virginia, and when the 7-footer is a big factor, the Cavaliers are dangerous.

Tobey scored a season-high 15 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and brought a toughness he is sometimes missing on Sunday. That sparked the Cavaliers at both ends of the floor in a nearly surreal and record-setting 76-27 victory against Harvard.

    - With one game left before jumping into their Atlantic Coast Conference schedule, No. 16 Notre Dame is already clicking on offense.

Pat Connaughton had 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Fighting Irish to a 91-66 win over Northern Illinois on Monday night.

No. 4 Louisville routs Cal State Northridge 80-55

Even on Wayne Blackshear's few misses, his shot looked smooth enough for him to continue shooting.

The senior forward's confidence provided a red-hot start culminating in the tuneup No. 4 Louisville needed with a huge showdown looming Saturday against top-ranked Kentucky.

Blackshear hit his first seven shots en route to a career-high 31 points that helped the Cardinals blow past Cal State Northridge 80-55 on Tuesday night.

Paige leads No. 20 UNC past UAB, 89-58

Coach Roy Williams gave Justin Jackson an earful about how many shots he hoisted for No. 20 North Carolina.

    Williams wanted more of them.

Jackson scored 13 points in his best game in five weeks, the Tar Heels' 89-58 rout of UAB on Saturday.

Jahlil Okafor scores season-high 27 as No. 2 Duke beats Toledo

Mike Krzyzewski wanted a test for all his talented freshmen at No. 2 Duke before ACC play starts.

They sure got one from Toledo.

Freshman center Jahlil Okafor scored a season-high 27 points and the Blue Devils pulled away to beat the pesky Rockets 86-69 on Monday night.

    Gill's 25 lead No. 3 Virginia past Davidson, 83-72

Virginia has rolled mostly untested through its nonconference schedule, and with the third-ranked Cavaliers playing their final tuneup before heading into Atlantic Coast Conference play, Davidson gave them just what they needed.

The Wildcats put the Cavaliers on their heels early with some dead-eye outside shooting, rallied three times to get back to even after Virginia had gone ahead and made the home team fight harder than they had all year for an 83-72 victory.

No. 5 Louisville tops Long Beach State 63-48

Fifth-ranked Louisville had nowhere to go but up after a lackluster offensive effort against top-ranked Kentucky.

The Cardinals bounced back with 30 solid minutes before a falloff down the stretch against Long Beach State.

Sophomore guard Terry Rozier led the way with 23 points while Montrezl Harrell added 16 as Louisville beat the 49ers 63-48 on Tuesday.

Tokoto leads No. 19 North Carolina past Tribe, 86-64

Roy Williams wanted a timeout. What the North Carolina coach got was a technical foul that woke up a sleepy crowd and a sloppy team.

The 19th-ranked but occasionally complacent Tar Heels held off William & Mary's late comeback bid and pulled away for an 86-64 victory Tuesday night.

Irish cruise in final nonconference tuneup

Despite another blowout win, Notre Dame coach Mike Brey knows the going is about to get a lot tougher for his team.

Demetrius Jackson led four players in double figures with 18 points and the 14th-ranked Irish beat Hartford 87-60 on Tuesday night to close nonconference play.

Notre Dame coach Mike Brey called it "circle rip". Georgia Tech called it a dagger.

By any name, Pat Connaughton's rise-up 3-pointer in Saturday's second overtime was too much for the Yellow Jackets to overcome.

Connaughton came alive in the second overtime with five points, two rebounds, a steal and a block, and Jerian Grant finished with 24 points to lead No. 14 Notre Dame to an 83-76 comeback win over Georgia Tech.

Chris Jones kept No. 5 Louisville's first Atlantic Coast Conference game from turning into its first ACC loss.

Jones scored 20 of his 22 points in the second half and the Cardinals won in their ACC debut, pulling away to beat Wake Forest 85-76 on Sunday night.

Mike Brey wants his Notre Dame players to establish a pattern of consistent success in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Winning at North Carolina in Year 2 is a big step toward that goal.

Zach Auguste's basket off an offensive rebound with 1:07 left helped the No. 13 Fighting Irish hold off the No. 18 Tar Heels 71-70 on Monday night.

Syracuse big man DaJuan Coleman won't play this season.

The 6-foot-9, 255-pound junior, who hasn't played in nearly a year following knee surgery, will sit the rest of the season and attempt to receive a medical hardship waiver to get the year back.

"It's official as far as I'm concerned," Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said of the decision not to play Coleman on Monday's ACC conference call. "Unless something radical happens, and I don't think it will."

Louisville transfer Akoy Agau has chosen Georgetown as his next destination, sources told ESPN.com.

Agau chose the Hoyas over Marquette, although he also visited Nebraska last weekend.

The 6-foot-8 power forward averaged just 0.9 points and 1.1 rebounds last season, before seeing 11 minutes in three games this season.

Third-ranked Virginia had too much poise and too much defense down the stretch for No. 13 Notre Dame to overcome.

After Notre Dame's Jerian Grant tied it with 4 minutes left, Justin Anderson hit a 3-pointer to ignite a 9-0 run in Virginia's 62-56 victory Saturday night.

The Cavaliers pressured the Irish into missing their final four

Marcus Paige ignored the pain in his twice-injured right foot, put his head down and drove toward the rim.

He sent a shot high on the backboard that dropped through the net, giving No. 18 North Carolina a comeback win that might also jolt the preseason all-American out of his slow start to the season.

Paige's scooping layup with 8.5 seconds left capped UNC's comeback from 13 down in the final 8 1/2 minutes to beat No. 5 Louisville 72-71 on Saturday.

Kyle Washington hopped on a courtside table to celebrate amid a crowd of North Carolina State fans jumping around at midcourt. Anthony "Cat" Barber posed with fans taking selfies amid the chaos.

The Wolfpack had turned No. 2 Duke's latest visit to Raleigh into yet another party -- complete with ending the Blue Devils' unbeaten start.

Trevor Lacey scored 21 points and N.C. State shot 55 percent to beat Duke 87-75 on Sunday, knocking off one of the last three undefeated teams in the country.
