No. 13 UNC shoots nearly 66 percent, routs Tulane 97-73

Two of No. 13 North Carolina's best shooting performances have come in a five-day span. For the Tar Heels, it all starts at the other end of the court.

Luke Maye had 22 points and 10 rebounds, and North Carolina routed Tulane 97-73 on Sunday.

Sunshine State upset: FSU knocks off No. 5 Florida 83-66

Florida State coach Leonard Hamilton doesn't want his guys getting too high after another victory against rival Florida, even if it was their most impressive one in the last four years.

Terance Mann scored a career-high 25 points, CJ Walker added 17 and the Seminoles upset the fifth-ranked Gators 83-66 on Monday night to remain undefeated.

Bagley, Carter lead No. 1 Duke past St. Francis, 124-67

Trevon Duval kept getting the ball to his teammates, and they kept scoring with it. It added up to a record-setting performance for top-ranked Duke.

The freshman point guard had 11 of the Blue Devils' school-record 34 assists in a 124-67 rout of St. Francis (Pa.) on Tuesday night.

Walker scores 26 to lead No. 10 Miami past Boston U 69-54

A breakout performance by Miami Hurricanes freshman Lonnie Walker IV earned him a congratulatory chest bump from the teammate he replaced.

Bruce Brown Jr., sidelined by a left hand injury, came onto the court during a timeout to join the celebration after Walker sank four 3-pointers in a 4-minute span Tuesday night, helping No. 10 Miami pull away from Boston University, 69-54.

No. 11 North Carolina beats Western Carolina 104-61

North Carolina kept shoot, shoot, shooting from outside. The 11th-ranked Tar Heels didn't miss much, either.

Luke Maye had 12 points and 12 rebounds while UNC hit a season-high 16 3-pointers to beat Western Carolina 104-61 on Wednesday night, turning in a strong offensive performance to head into an 11-day exam break.

Ky Bowman scores 30 points as Boston College hands first loss to No. 1 Duke

Outside the Boston College basketball office, on the way to the practice gym, the walls are decorated with giant pictures from the Eagles' biggest wins.

The Sweet 16 appearance in 2006. Upsets over No. 1 North Carolina and No. 6 Duke in 2009. A victory over top-ranked Syracuse four years ago.

Make room for an addition: Boston College 89, Duke 84, an upset that sent the No. 1 Blue Devils to their first loss.

Chiozza scores final 6 points as No. 5 Florida ends slide

Seconds after the final buzzer sounded, more than a couple of players on No. 5 Florida exhaled deeply.

When your team is that highly ranked, avoiding a four-game losing streak deserves a sigh of relief.

Chris Chiozza scored the final six points of the game and the Gators sidelined what would have been their first four-game slide since late in coach Mike White's first season with a 66-60 victory over No. 17 Cincinnati on Saturday in the second game of the Never Forget Tribute Classic at the Prudential Center.

Notre Dame makes Brey a 92-68 winner in return to Delaware

Mike Brey reunited with old friends, felt at home on a familiar sideline, and soaked in the cheers from Delaware fans still grateful for the way he stamped the program on the basketball map.

The happy homecoming was going well -- except for those peeks at the scoreboard.

"First 15 minutes, I'm like, `Why'd you do this?" Brey said, laughing.

Once the final buzzer sounded in No. 9 Notre Dame's 92-68 win over Delaware on Saturday night, Brey had a good answer: for the hearty handshake and warm words with his former longtime assistant, Blue Hens coach Martin Ingelsby.

Johnson, Hall lead No. 16 Virginia past Davidson 80-60

Nigel Johnson got an early heads-up that Virginia was going to need his spark on Saturday.

The 16th-ranked Cavaliers, perhaps shaking off cobwebs after a 10-day break for exams, got off to a slow start against Davidson.

"Two minutes into the game one of my coaches was telling us, telling me `Just be ready. We're going to need you early," Johnson said. "I could see that we got off to a slow start so I just wanted to go in there and get an energy boost going and get us on a run."

Johnson did that, and more, scored 14 of his 22 points in the first half as the Cavaliers gathered themselves and beat Davidson 80-60.

No. 24 Florida State bounces back with victory

Florida State struggled for the first 21 minutes of Monday night's game against Charleston Southern, but it found success by playing zone defense and getting to the rim on offense during an 8-minute span in the second half.

The 24th-ranked Seminoles went on a 21-4 run as they defeated the Buccaneers 69-58. Phil Cofer scored 19 points to lead Florida State, which bounced back from its first loss of the season on Saturday against Oklahoma State.

No. 13 Virginia beats Savannah State 77-49

Virginia got a relatively easy victory. Its bench players saw some valuable playing time. And Savannah State went home with a big check.

Everything went according to plan Tuesday night at John Paul Jones Arena.

Sophomore guard Ty Jerome scored a career-high 17 points, hitting all three of his 3-point attempts, as No. 13 Virginia breezed through its next-to-last non-conference tuneup, topping Savannah State 78-47.

Carter leads No. 4 Duke to 104-40 rout of Evansville

Fourth-ranked Duke had 11 days to dwell on the loss that cost the Blue Devils their No. 1 ranking -- and more importantly, 11 days to finally spend some quality time on the practice court.

They wasted no time taking out their frustrations on Evansville.

Duke routed the Purple Aces 104-40 on Wednesday night behind a season-best 27 points from freshman Wendell Carter Jr. -- who said the team practiced every day during the break.

No. 24 Florida State makes 19 3's in rout of Southern Miss

After struggling in its past two games, including suffering its first loss of the year, No. 24 Florida State was given a team exercise leading into Thursday's matchup against Southern Mississippi. Coach Leonard Hamilton had his players grade their previous game and come up with points of emphasis.

The self-scouting ended up benefiting the Seminoles, who closed nonconference play with a 98-45 victory Thursday over the Golden Eagles.

No. 13 Virginia beats Hampton 82-48

Ty Jerome is rounding into form at just the right time for Virginia.

Following a five-game stretch where he didn't get into double figures and shot better than 33 percent just once, the sophomore guard provided offense when his teammates weren't as the 13th-ranked Cavaliers defeated Hampton 82-48 on Friday night.
