Duke rolls into Sweet 16 with 87-62 romp over Rhode Island

The same message comes from Mike Krzyzewski almost daily. While the Hall-of-Fame Duke coach makes an effort to mix it up when talking to his ridiculously young and ridiculously loaded team, the theme never changes.

This moment in the NCAA Tournament is precious. Don't take it for granted. Especially if it turns out to be the only one you'll get.

Marvin Bagley III and the rest of his potentially one-and-done teammates appear to be all ears. The Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year poured in 22 points to go with nine rebounds and the second-seeded Blue Devils overwhelmed seventh-seeded Rhode Island 87-62 on Saturday to earn the program's 26th trip to the Sweet 16.

    11th-seeded Syracuse beats 3rd-seeded Michigan State 55-53

Syracuse barely got into the NCAA Tournament, getting the 68th and final spot.

The Orange have earned the right to keep playing in college basketball's showcase. And, no one will be excited about facing that zone defense.

Tyus Battle had 17 points, Oshae Brissett scored 15, and 11th-seeded Syracuse zoned Michigan State out of the tournament, 55-53 on Sunday to advance to the Sweet 16.

FSU comeback and payback as Seminoles oust top-seeded Xavier

Florida State senior Phil Cofer knows the biggest key to making any comeback, especially in the NCAA Tournament.

    Don't get rattled.

Now the Florida State Seminoles are on their way to the NCAA Tournament's round of 16 for the first time since 2011 after upsetting top-seeded Xavier with a furious rally.

PJ Savoy made a 3- pointer with 1:08 left to give Florida State its first lead of the second half, and the Seminoles rallied from a 12-point deficit to beat the Musketeers 75-70 on Sunday night in the second round of the West Region.

DeVoe, Clemson rout cold-shooting Auburn to reach Sweet 16

    Clemson isn't all about football.

The Tigers are pretty good at basketball, too, and are going to the Sweet 16 for the first time in 21 years.

Gabe DeVoe scored 22 points and Elijah Thomas had 18 points and 11 rebounds for Clemson, which closed the first half with a 25-4 run that helped it beat cold-shooting Auburn 84-53 on Sunday and advance to the Midwest Region semifinal.

Noles roll: Florida St beats Gonzaga 75-60 in 3rd NCAA upset

Terance Mann grabbed the basketball with both hands and screamed, relishing his turn to be the high-scoring hero while Florida State steadily pulled away from Gonzaga.

If he doesn't get the opportunity again, the junior guard will be just fine with it. These surprising Seminoles are thriving on balance, discipline and tremendous teamwork during an upset run that has stretched all the way to the brink of the Final Four.

Mann scored 18 points and the ninth-seeded Seminoles advanced to the Elite Eight for just the third time in school history with a 75-60 victory over the fourth-seeded Zags on Thursday night in the West Region semifinal.

Duke turns back Orange 69-65, sets up matchup with Kansas

All that talk about busted brackets and the maddest March ever -- not happening in the Midwest.

What started as a chess match turned into a free-throw-shooting contest. When it was over, Duke won.

Grayson Allen and Gary Trent Jr., made four clutch free throws down the stretch to help Duke hold off Syracuse 69-65 and land the Blue Devils in a 1 vs. 2 regional final against Kansas.

I am at a loss with Kentucky. Is there defense that bad or is Dukes offense that good? I will have to watch more games from both teams to come up with an opinon

Jerome's 20 points lead No. 5 Virginia past Towson, 73-42

Ty Jerome said it was great to be back on the basketball court.

Jerome scored 20 points and De'Andre Hunter had 13 and 10 rebounds as No. 5 Virginia beat Towson 73-42 on Tuesday night in its first game since they made history that followed them all offseason as the first No. 1 seed to lose to a No. 16 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Fantastic freshmen help No. 4 Duke blow out No. 2 Kentucky

Zion Williamson and fourth-ranked Duke were well on their way to a blowout victory when the high-flying freshman blocked a shot to start yet another Blue Devil fastbreak.

Williamson dribbled up the left side, whipped a pass through traffic to classmate RJ Barrett, then met him under the basket with a hearty chest bump after Barrett fought off a foul to finish his layup.

Duke's fabulous freshman weren't just ready for their first turn in the spotlight.

"They were magnificent," coach Mike Krzyzewski said.

Barrett scored 33 points and Williamson added 28 as both players broke the school record by points in a freshman debut, and the Blue Devils romped over No. 2 Kentucky 118-84 on Tuesday night in the season-opening Champions Classic.

Maye, Johnson lead No. 8 North Carolina past Wofford 78-67

When Roy Williams pulled Luke Maye late in the first half for taking a bad shot, the Atlantic Coast Conference's preseason player of the year didn't pout or get angry on the bench.

Maye instead responded with a solid second half, scoring a game-high 24 points as No. 8 North Carolina defeated Wofford 78-67 on Tuesday to avenge an upset loss last year to the Terriers.

No. 22 Clemson hits century mark to beat The Citadel 100-80

Clemson coach Brad Brownell's not quite ready to count on exploding scoreboards and splashy offensive outbursts for the 22nd-ranked Tigers just yet.

Marcquise Reed had 20 points and a career-high 13 rebounds as Clemson beat The Citadel 100-80 and reached 100 points for the first time in nine years Tuesday night.

Reed led six Tigers in double figures as they hit the century mark for the first time since a 102-66 win over Winthrop in November 2009, a season before Brownell arrived.
