Nwora scores 37, leads No. 6 Louisville past BC 86-69

Only a late-game cold streak kept Louisville forward Jordan Nwora from scoring 40 points and breaking a two decade-old record at Boston College.

The Atlantic Coast Conference preseason player of the year scored a career-high 37 points and added nine rebounds on Wednesday night to lead No. 6 Louisville to an 86-69 victory over Boston College.

Vassell's 3-pointers send Florida State over Virginia Tech

Devin Vassell was too ramped up trying to help No. 5 Florida State beat Virginia Tech to realize he was earning himself a place in the ACC record book.

"Not at all," Vassell said. "Coming to the bench, people just said, `Just keep shooting if you're open. You're hot, you're hot.' My teammates kept finding me, and we kept running plays that were getting me open. Give credit to the coaches, and I'm just thankful for that."

He may not have been aware, but everyone else knew he was in the midst of a special afternoon.

Vassell tied an ACC mark by shooting 7 for 7 from 3-point range and scored 27 points to lift the No. 5 Seminoles to a 74-63 victory over the Hokies on Saturday.

No. 9 Duke beats Syracuse 97-88; Carey another double-double

Vernon Carey Jr. stood tall in the middle of the Syracuse zone, and the Orange had no answer for Duke's big freshman center.

Carey had 26 points and a season-high 17 rebounds for his 10th double-double of the season and the No. 9 Blue Devils beat the Orange 97-88 on Saturday night.

McMahon, No. 6 Cardinals beat Wolfpack 77-57 for road win

Sixth-ranked Louisville turned in a mistake-filled start to Saturday's game at North Carolina State, then had trouble protecting a comfortable second-half lead.

And yet, the Cardinals responded each time with the veteran composure that has fueled their perfect Atlantic Coast Conference road record, not to mention their best start in any league in nearly three decades.

Ryan McMahon made seven 3-pointers -- six in the first half -- and scored a season-high 23 points, and Louisville dominated the final 11 minutes to beat the Wolfpack 77-57.

Cold-shooting No. 7 Duke rallies, beats Boston College 63-55

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski thinks his players might have been looking ahead to this weekend's game against North Carolina.

    And it almost cost them.

"They didn't listen to me," he said on Tuesday night after the seventh-ranked Blue Devils rallied from a 10-point, first-half deficit to beat Boston College 63-55.

Jones, Moore help No. 7 Duke top rival UNC 98-96 in OT

Tre Jones got Duke to overtime, and Wendell Moore Jr. finished off North Carolina.

They did it with a pair of plays sure to live on in replays and the lore of the fierce rivalry, too.

Jones hit a jumper at the horn to force the extra period, then Moore scored on a putback of Jones' air-balled jumper as time expired in OT to help the No. 7 Blue Devils top the Tar Heels 98-96 in a wild renewal of the longtime series Saturday night.

No. 5 Louisville tops Virginia 80-73 for 10th straight win

Louisville's latest quest to end its frustration against Virginia appeared close to slipping away again as the Cavaliers had momentum and a late lead.

It took the No. 5 Cardinals just 38 seconds to reclaim it for good by forcing action down low, getting to the foul line and converting frequent opportunities. That helped them finally end a run of losses to Virginia and extend their current hot streak.

Steven Enoch scored 13 points, including the go-ahead free throws with 2:47 remaining, and David Johnson, Ryan McMahon and Malik Williams combined for eight more from the line to lift Louisville past Virginia 80-73 on Saturday for its 10th consecutive victory.

Jones, Goldwire help No. 7 Duke beat No. 8 FSU 70-65

Seventh-ranked Duke had just followed a wild overtime win against its fiercest rival by battling through the final minutes of a close game to beat eighth-ranked Florida State when coach Mike Krzyzewski paused on his way off the court.

The Hall of Famer turned back in the direction of the "Cameron Crazies" and motioned for them to make even more noise, seeking even more of a tribute for his young team after Monday's 70-65 win.

Right from the opening tip, Chris Mack fretted that his team just wasn't ready to play.

His guys were lethargic. They didn't seem to have any passion. There was no sense of urgency.

When the final horn sounded, the Louisville coach's worst fears were realized.

Trailing all the way and downright awful offensively, the No. 5 Cardinals were dealt a stunning 64-58 loss by Georgia Tech on Wednesday night, snapping their 10-game winning streak.

No. 11 Louisville routs Syracuse 90-66 to end 2-game slide

Consecutive losses prompted Louisville’s captains to conduct a players-only meeting to sort things out.

That discussion obviously put the No. 11 Cardinals on the same page in many phases considering how they handled Syracuse.

Jordan Nwora scored 17 points, Dwayne Sutton added 16 and Louisville routed the Orange 90-66 on Wednesday night to end a two-game losing streak.

Johnson, Daniels help NC State rout No. 6 Duke 88-66

North Carolina State overwhelmed sixth-ranked Duke so thoroughly that the Blue Devils' Hall of Fame coach could only describe his team as “never there" after a historically lopsided loss.

Markell Johnson scored a career-high 28 points, including his third halfcourt shot this season, to help the Wolfpack beat the Blue Devils 88-66 on Wednesday night. It was the largest margin of defeat in four decades under coach Mike Krzyzewski to an unranked opponent.

No. 6 Florida State rallies past No. 11 Louisville 82-67

Florida State's home dominance looked shaky as it trailed Louisville by 10 points in the second half.

The Seminoles quickly regrouped and mounted a surge to defend their floor and move atop the Atlantic Coast Conference -- for now.

Trent Forrest scored 14 of his 16 points after halftime, and No. 6 Florida State rallied from the double-digit deficit to beat No. 11 Louisville 82-67 on Monday night.

Childress, Demon Deacons stun No. 7 Duke 113-101 in 2OT

Brandon Childress never panicked as shot after shot clanged off the rim. Nor did Wake Forest when it fell behind late in regulation against seventh-ranked Duke.

It turned out Childress and the Demon Deacons had a few big shots left in them -- enough to end a long losing streak to the Blue Devils in memorable fashion with a court-storming celebration.

Childress ended an awful shooting start with a game-tying 3-pointer near the end of regulation and scored 13 of his 17 in two overtimes to help the Demon Deacons stun the Blue Devils 113-101 Tuesday night. It was Wake Forest's first win against the Blue Devils in nearly six years, ending a run of 11 straight losses that had lasted through coach Danny Manning's tenure.
