No. 4 Duke rolls by Pitt 86-56 in Coach K's final road game

Mike Krzyzewski is attempting to stay in the present, even as the days slip by and the going-away presents and "last" milestones keep piling up. Even as retirement looms whenever Duke's season — and Krzyzewski's remarkable coaching career — ends at some point over the next five weeks.

So Krzyzewski didn't bother to tell his players he was walking onto the court as the visitor for the final time when the fourth-ranked Blue Devils faced Pittsburgh on Tuesday night. Doing so would make it about him. And that is the one thing Krzyzewski is trying to avoid above all else.

"I didn't talk to them about ‘it's my last road game, guys win it for me,'" Krzyzewski said. "I want it to be their moment."

A moment the Blue Devils increasingly look like they're capable of seizing.

Freshman guard Trevor Keels scored a career-high 27 points, Paolo Banchero added 21 and Duke clinched at least a share of its 13th Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season title under Krzyzewski with an 86-56 win over Pittsburgh.

Rival UNC upsets No. 4 Duke in Coach K's Cameron farewell

North Carolina ignored all the attention surrounding the final home game for retiring Hall of Fame coach Mike Krzyzewski, as well as the fourth-ranked Duke's emotionally charged, rowdier-than-usual crowd.

Instead, the rival Tar Heels walked into Cameron Indoor Stadium and fearlessly spoiled Coach K's perfect send-off to the postseason.

Armando Bacot scored 23 points and the Tar Heels shot 59% after halftime to upset the Blue Devils 94-81 on Saturday night, a major reversal from a blowout loss in the first meeting that raised questions about UNC's ability to compete against the nation's top teams.

Coach K reaches ACC championship in his final tournament

Mike Krzyzewski's last Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament will end in the final game.

Paolo Banchero had 18 points and 11 rebounds and No. 7 Duke held off Miami with free throws in the final minute as the Blue Devils and their retiring Hall of Fame coach advanced to the ACC championship with an 80-76 victory Friday night.

7th-seed Virginia Tech upsets Duke, Coach K for ACC title

For the second straight Saturday night, Duke failed to deliver Coach K a send-off victory.

This time it was Virginia Tech playing party pooper.

Hunter Cattoor scored a career-high 31 points and the seventh-seeded Hokies won the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament for the first time, beating Duke 82-67 to deny Mike Krzyzewski a league title in his final season.

Notre Dame beats Rutgers in double-OT to cap First Four

Paul Atkinson Jr. was in the right place at the right time for Notre Dame as the clock wound down in the second overtime period against relentless Rutgers.

Atkinson rebounded a missed shot by Blake Wesley and put back a layup with 1.4 seconds left to give the Irish an 89-87 win in a wild First Four game and put them into a first-round West Region contest on Friday in San Diego.

North Carolina dismantles Marquette 95-63 in NCAA tournament opener

Duke tops Cal State Fullerton to open Coach K's last NCAAs

Mike Krzyzewski got the defensive improvement he wanted to start the NCAA Tournament after some shaky performances down the stretch of his final season.

Duke began the retiring Hall of Famer's last journey through the brackets with minimal stress, beating Cal State Fullerton 78-61 on Friday night.

Notre Dame keeps rolling, beats Alabama 78-64 in 1st round

Maybe playing tired suits Notre Dame.

Cormac Ryan scored a career-high 29 points, including seven 3-pointers, and 11th-seeded Notre Dame recovered from a grueling First Four win and late-night flight to beat sixth-seeded Alabama 78-64 on Friday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Tar Heels survive ejection, big rally, beat '21 champ Baylor

So much for the idea that North Carolina is soft against top-tier competition. These Tar Heels are going to the Sweet 16 after knocking off the defending champions.

No, it wasn't easy. The Tar Heels blew a 25-point second-half lead after Brady Manek was ejected for a wild elbow and starting guard Caleb Love fouled out, and they had some issues when top-seeded Baylor turned up the full-court pressure. But they never fell behind, played with poise in overtime and pulled out a 93-86 victory Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Duke beats Texas Tech 78-73 to send Coach K to Elite 8

Mike Krzyzewski has spent more than four decades at Duke telling his players what to do, with championship-level results.

With his Hall of Fame career in danger of coming to an end, Krzyzewski let his players dictate the game-closing defensive strategy of switching from an uncharacteristic zone defense into Duke’s famous man-to-man.

The key defensive stops and two late baskets by Jeremy Roach moved Krzyzewski within one win of his record-setting 13th trip to the Final Four in his farewell season with a 78-73 win over Texas Tech on Thursday night.

McGusty, Miami beat Iowa State 70-56 in Sweet 16

Kameron McGusty and Miami jumped into passing lanes, challenged Iowa State's shots and generally made life quite difficult for the Cyclones.

Turns out the Hurricanes play defense, too — at an Elite level.

McGusty scored 27 points and Miami advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time, pulling away for a 70-56 win over Iowa State 70-56 in the NCAA Tournament on Friday night.

Bacot, Love help No. 1 UNC top College of Charleston

Armando Bacot started setting his feet, sealing off defenders and demanding the ball inside. His teammates complied. And that's what finally got top-ranked North Carolina rolling offensively against the College of Charleston.

It also helped that coach Hubert Davis got the response he wanted after a ''soft'' first half, too.

Bacot had all but one of his 28 points after halftime to help UNC push past Charleston 102-86 on Friday night. The 6-foot-11 preseason Associated Press All-American got just one shot attempt in an opening half that set the tone for an offensively driven game with neither team consistently stringing together stops.
