Saint Louis rallies from 14 down, then shocks NC State in OT At least one No. 5 stayed alive. Saint Louis, seeded fifth in the Midwest Region, worked five extra minutes Thursday night to avoid joining fellow No. 5s Cincinnati and Oklahoma in falling to 12th seeds in the NCAA tournament. The Billikens advanced by wiping out a late double-digit deficit and beating North Carolina State 83-80 in overtime. Read more http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=400546949
Dayton stuns Syracuse, earns rare trip to Sweet 16 Dayton coach Archie Miller almost didn't want to look. Syracuse star freshman point guard Tyler Ennis was open at the top of the key with 2 seconds left and the Flyers holding a two-point lead. When Ennis' attempt to win the game clanged harmlessly off the rim, Dayton had a victory it had been chasing for three decades. "We have a good program with great tradition," Miller said Saturday night after Dayton defeated Syracuse 55-53 in the NCAA tournament to reach the Sweet 16 for the first time in 30 years. "Now, we have the ability to build, and that's what it's all about." Read more http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=400548467
Re: Dayton stuns Syracuse, earns rare trip to Sweet 16 Barclays negotiates with A-10, ACC Officials for the Barclays Center are negotiating with the ACC and the Atlantic 10 to work out a deal for 2017 postseason tournament dates that could involve a scheduling alliance and nonconference doubleheaders between the conferences, multiple sources told ESPN on Friday. But the A-10 has a five-year deal with the Barclays Center that finishes with the 2017 tournament. The A-10 is open to moving the days of its 2017 tournament if it would get something in return from the ACC in terms of scheduling with the league to help raise its profile, a source with direct knowledge told ESPN. But that won't work for the Barclays Center. Barclays Center officials are talking with the A-10 about giving up its 2017 dates there and have suggested possibly moving the conference to Nassau Coliseum, which will be under the Barclays property and is scheduled for a renovation. The New York Islanders are moving to the Barclays Center in 2015. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/10606349/barclays-center-negotiates-10-acc

No. 11 seed Dayton reaches Elite 8 for first time since 1984 Like a red and blue blur, the Dayton Flyers were pressing and passing, shooting and scoring. The waves never seemed to stop coming, with 10, 11 and then 12 players giving them quality minutes. An exhausted and foul-plagued Stanford simply couldn't keep up. The underdog Flyers -- an 11 seed in this South Region -- are now in the Elite Eight for the first time since 1984 after an emphatic 82-72 victory over Stanford on Thursday night. College hoops summer catchup: Atlantic 10 Conference We've officially reached that awkward point in the college hoops offseason where the dust has mostly settled from all the transfer/coaching carousel madness, but it's still far too early to start any serious previewing of the 2014-15 season. In keeping with the spirit of the season, it's time to continue our series of brief rundowns of what each conference looks like after all the moving and shaking that has happened since Connecticut cut down the nets in Dallas. Today we look at an Atlantic 10 Conference which sent a record six teams to the Big Dance in 2014, and saw one of them (Dayton) become America's sweethearts after advancing all the way to the Elite Eight. http://www.sbnation.com/college-basketball/2014/7/3/5834326/atlantic-10-basketball-preview-2015-2014

College Basketball Preview 14-15: Atlantic-10 In the new era, A10 teams will have to try to win the way they always have, by finding hidden gems, developing players, and giving players a second chance. (Of the A10’s nine former Top 100 recruits, four are transfers from Power Five conferences.) Even with this strategy, the A10 can continue to occasionally have brilliant seasons. Last year the A10 sent six teams to the NCAA tournament. The problem for teams in the A10 is that it can take longer to restock the cabinet. Five of last year’s tournament teams; Dayton, UMass, George Washington, St. Louis and St. Joseph’s all lost significant pieces. When talented seniors leave, teams in the A10 sometimes need a year or two to rebuild, while teams in the Power Five conferences simply reload. http://basketball.realgm.com/articl...lantic-10?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=t.co

The two Years the ACC is in Brooklyn the A-10 will be in Pittsburgh and DC NEWPORT NEWS, Va.—The Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Basketball Championship will take on a new look and vibe when it moves to CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pa., in 2017 and to Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., in 2018. The announcement, made today by the A-10, solidifies the championship sites through 2021. The championship will continue to be held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn through 2016, then will move to the steel city in 2017, and to the nation’s capital in 2018 before returning to Barclays Center for three additional years through 2021. “The opportunity to rotate our championship within the A-10 footprint is exciting,” stated A-10 Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade. “CONSOL Energy Center and Verizon Center are two state-of-the-art venues with great fan amenities and successful histories of hosting NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship events. Bringing the A-10 Championship and brand to Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C. is another nod to the strength and value of the conference.” http://www.atlantic10.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=31600&ATCLID=209634435
Davidson takes on bigger challenge Bob McKillop's team will be tested nightly in move to Atlantic 10 from Southern My friends, there is a big difference between playing the likes of Chattanooga and Furman in league play, or Saint Louis, VCU, Massachusetts, Dayton, St. Joe's and LaSalle in the A-10. Since the Southern Conference is a one-bid league, there's more pressure to win the conference tournament and the league's automatic NCAA bid. You can reach the NCAA tournament from the A-10 on an at-large bid, but the regular-season schedule is tougher. The A-10 is loaded, with six teams making the Big Dance last season, each winning at least 24 games. http://espn.go.com/espn/dickvitale/story/_/id/11512594/davidson-faces-challenge-moving-atlantic-10
