I'm questioning if you do because you said

"This guy takes the toughest defensive assignment EVERY night"

No he doesn't. That's not even close to being true.

It's pretty much common knowledge that Batum is the Blazers best lock down defender. However that is not to take anything away from Wes who is also very good. the Blazers are blessed to have both of them. However when it comes to the likes of Durant or James and Melo it is Batum that gets the call every time. Now if you want the guy to also cover Jefferson you would be asking a little much don't you think? Not that he couldn't but c'mon that is a mismatch of epic proportions.

Well I'm glad that as a SF he guards the other SF's in the league

Terry Stotts is a genius for figuring that out

That's still not "This guy takes the toughest defensive assignment EVERY night"

    Because he doesn't

Lets put it this way, he takes more of the toughest defensive assignments then anyone else in the league I would venture. And Wes is probably top 5 in that department.

Because Nic is French I doubt he's even celebrating Thanksgiving. Who wants a player on the team that doesn't enjoy American holidays.

IMO he is not worth anywhere near what Parsons got (neither is Parsons), but perhaps someone will pay him that much, I hope its not Portland.

I posted it earlier in this thread but I think it bears repeating. You can't let Nic walk. We will already be over the cap at that point. So you have to sign and keep him or sign and trade him.

Batum now has a PER of 12.8 -- the lowest of his career.

He's French so it's more of a purrrrrrrrrr than per.

So is the abysmal .396 shooting percentage. His career average is .452. This is either a big slump or the start of the slide in his career FG production.

I'm surprised there are still so many fans still drinking the batum koolaid. Look, he is a fine player. Versatile. I'd happily keep him if Paul was willing to sign rolo and Wes this off-season. But if we had to make a choice, you choose Wes today. Wes is a good defender, three point shooter, scorer etc and fits well with lillard. His work ethic and motor are huge for the team.

Batum brings a unique skill set to the team, I just feel his role is more easily replaceable.

If we have to choose one or the other, I think you trade batum for a veteran role player sf and a pick from 10-15 if possible.

If I could only pick one I pick Wes too but we will know the answer to this plenty ahead of time. Wes will be signed first. So it isn't Wes vs Batum unless you really think Paul is going cheap which I just don't see at all.

Absolutely this! If we look like contenders, Allen will go deep in his pockets to get everyone to come back. So basically, this is all relative.
