Am I the only one that looks back on that trade now and thinks how stupid it is? Gerald Henderson has been absolutely terrible. Noah vonleh has been as well. Yeah he's young and a project I guess but was it really worth it? Aminu is alright but at least with batum we knew he could handle the ball and make plays. Yeah batum was inconsistent and terrible last year but I don't know honestly I would of rather not had the batum trade happen and not pick up aminu. Aminu makes early will Barton like drives and has only contributed on the defensive end unless he's picking up two early fouls like he seems to do in the first few minutes of the first quarter.
And when Nic pulled a lamarcus next summer and left us with nothing, what then? Neil saw the writing on the wall. He got what he could. We were tanking anyway. Also, a little quick to write off these guys, don't ya think? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Batum was a goner whether we kept lma or not. He needed a change of scenery and so did we. I like aminu more than batum because he actually plays like he gives a fuck for us.
And how is Charlotte gonna feel when he bales and they traded away vonleh for nothing? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Don't know, maybe I am, but I also know unlike Lamarcus, batum actually liked it here and showed that. Gerald Henderson has gotten like 6 or more games to adjust and just can't, he just doesn't fit with this team like afflalo wasn't able to. Vonleh I may be quick to. He could be a surprise on a couple years, I'm just surprised he played so well in summer league and now plays very very differently but it's better competition so I don't know. Aminu has become more of a 3 and D guy because he can't drive. He can slash and grab boards, play defense but most of these games I have seen he picks up one too many fouls to keep playing or costs us a big turnover with his reckless driving
i have no doubts that given the time we gave nic, aminu will adapt and be a much better fit for the team, even if he was in the trade or not, he was a bi-product of the change. tbh Vonleh could end up being a better end product than anyone if he develops as hoped, and henderson is off injury and had too small of a sample size of games to call a bust yet.
It doesn't really matter that Henderson sucks, I don't think he was ever in the Blazer's long term plans. They got a young lottery pick out of the deal, it was better than nothing.
I think trading Batum was a shrewd move on Olshey's part. He's not worth the type money he is about to get paid.
Let's wait on two things; a) what Vonleh develops into the next couple years b) if we deal Hendo at the deadline
With his consistency continually in question, and running out of excuses for his underacheiving play Batum had to go... We had the majority of our money spent on our starters and were stalled with bottom feeding benches...we didn't have the money to make our bench better and would've been in the same place this year...good but not quite good enough to get past the second round.
I'm all in for dealing Henderson. Maybe a Henderson/kaman package but who could we even get out of that? I understand he's coming off an injury and only played about 5 or 6 games but he's been dreadful. He's supposed to be a veteran here, instead he looks like a rookie. I'm all for seeing what vonleh turns into in a couple years but I don't know I just question that trade especially when I see batum had 11 assists tonight with 16 or 17 points, I forget, just saw the box score though. Classic nic near triple double numbers though
The guy wanted out a few years ago. He tried to force his way to Minnesota of all places. He wouldn't have come back and if he did it would have cost us dearly. Some fool is gonna max him and then the old batum will return. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So vonleh is 20 years old in his second year and you have decided in less than 20 games that he's garbage? Impressive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I remember hearing that he was aware of the trade beforehand, but is there any other conformation to that effect?
Vonleh showed his promise last night when he hit a 3, blocked a shot, and then dunked on the other end. Give him a couple seasons. Remember how so many people, myself included, thought CJ sucked at this point last year. Be patient. As for Gerald Henderson, he was incredible in his first game. He's not getting the minutes he needs to be comfortable out the because Crabbe has played so well. Henderson has to adjust. Or we'll trade him.
