<div class="quote_poster">Quoting the MDE:</div><div class="quote_post">In basketball, you want quality over quantity. However, Kobe had neither. Shaq and Fox were out. And the players he had playing along side him were terrible. TD is better than Kobe...hmm...if Kobe had the Spurs, he would have much better stats than Kobe..think about that..</div> If Kobe was on the Spurs..this team would not of got past round one..
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting allnet:</div><div class="quote_post">TD stays faithful to his wife I'm sure of that....He doesn't act like some horny teen like Kobe must of done... Phil Jackson has been blessed with having great players....Would love to see him take over a lottery team.... You are using the arguement Spurs took long enough to get to 1st seed? jesus...thats like saying it took Lakers long enough to be a 500 team.... Every single fan will tell you how much Shaq gets away with for the last 5 years..what was it...30 something FT's in game 6 of the WCF v the Kings..what a joke... Next time don't be so damn biased every time you post...boring? This thread is about who is the best player so of course Duncan will be mentioned..back to back MVP's....just won the title..Funny you say putting you to sleep because Duncan is boring..but whats so exciting about Shaq? zzzzzz Everything you mentioned Duncan does better..apart from dribble...As TD doesn't do alot of that..unless he is in the post....Tim Duncan has guided Spurs two 2 NBA titles...and this recent one was more impressive..as he didn't have nearly as much talent or even as good a 2nd option as any of the other top teams...He makes his team-mates better....Give Duncan a star 2nd option and Spurs would hardly lose....</div> Dude, about the Kobe thing, you no NOTHING. Don't bring that up.. What else is a Queen fan going to say: "Yeah, Shaq played great, he deserved every one of those free throws." For your info, the Kings shot more free throws than the Lakers in that series. So don't bring that bull in here trying to slam me. Nuh-uh.. Shaq is boring? Since when?! He is one of the most spirited and humorous players in the game. When he brings the ball up the floor on the fast break, it is great to watch. Unlike Poindexter who sits there and makes little baby needing it's mother faces at the refs.. Duncan shoots better from the perimeter? Wha?!! Timmy has guided the Spurs to 2 titles..the first was an asterisk season of course, and the 2nd was fraud also..he didn't guide the Sp*rs to the title..it was other players getting injured and the Spurs shooting 9 more free-throws per game than their opponents. :thumbsdow Give Duncan a 2nd option? You Spurs fans act like Duncan gets <u>NO</u> help but then you praise Parker saying he is the next best thing. Spare me the time to read your blinded posts...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting JWillTheFreak:</div><div class="quote_post">yea right u dreams</div> Dude, how about bringing up a point when you post. I could easily say "yah right in your dreams fool!" Give me some substance, and then I will evaluate your worhtless post. You have no bball knowledge, give it up..
First of all, its hard to compare Duncan and Kobe. The reason being, they don't play the same position. And they play in different ways. But as to who has a greater affect on there team? Duncan is the answer. Kobe led the Lakers to a 3-9 mark w/o Shaq. Now granted, the Spurs do have a better surrounding cast when the Lakers lost Shaq, but still.........Kobe lossed to the likes of Cleveland. Kobe should have been able to lead the Lakers to victory over the lowly Cavs. Now, when you factor in the fact that the Lakers had 2 top 5 players in the league in Shaq and Kobe, and lossed to the Spurs, things sway in Duncan's favor. 2 superstars should have been able to beat one superstar. It doesn't always work that way. MDE, you are taking offense to this. This isn't a knock on Kobe. Kobe is a great player. Its just a compliment on how truly great Duncan really is. You need to stop looking at every comment like it is a diss towards your team. No one here is saying Kobe sucks, or Kobe isn't a great player. What they are saying is that they recognize that, and also recognize that Duncan is also a great player and has a slight edge on him. Its not even close to insulting Kobe. As far as all around skills. Generally guards are the better ball handlers and shooters, while the big men are better rebounders and shotblockers. I guess it comes down to personal preference. But Tim Duncans MVP(twice) speaks for itself. As does his championship run last year, which took a lot of gutsy play from Duncan to edge out the Lakers.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting JWillTheFreak:</div><div class="quote_post">they would not even make the playoffs the lakers made the playoffs because oneal came back</div> Man, please stay out of this argument. You know nothing. Oh yeah, the Lakers had to have Shaq..it was Kobe that put the team on his shoulders and pulled out some video game moments because of Shaq's laziness.
Vintage I know where you are coming from but comparing Duncan to Kobe is like comparing your main man, MJ (a guard)and Hakeem (a big man). Who was better? MJ. Hakeem may have won MVP status and a couple titles, but MJ was much better in the long run..
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting the MDE:</div><div class="quote_post">My goodness people, take a chill pill. Kobe is much better all-around than Duncan. </div> I really hope your kidding

Tony Parker? Do you watch basketball? <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Give Duncan a 2nd option? Both Hakeem's and Michael's historic careers are done with; and its easier to look back upon that. And thats not really a fair comparison either. MJ was out and out the best G in the NBA at his time, and the best player. Kobe is not "clearly touted" as the best G in the NBA. McGrady, Iverson, and Pierce still get solid recognition(McGrady the foremost of the latter).
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting JWillTheFreak:</div><div class="quote_post">Ask u self this question would they make the playoffs with out ONEAL????</div> Ask yourself this you dude, would Shaq have won 3 titles if Kobe hadn't been there to provide all the clutch buckets? No.
