Top-40 prospect Jeremiah Robinson-Earl picks Villanova over Kansas
Villanova pulled off an impressive recruiting coup on Tuesday evening, beating Kansas for top-40 prospect Jeremiah Robinson-Earl.
Robinson-Earl chose the Wildcats over a final five that included Kansas, Arizona, Notre Dame and North Carolina. He officially visited all five schools over the past two months.

Paschall, Booth key national champion Villanova in rout
Villanova started to head out for the second half toward its rehabilitated court when it somehow got lost in a maze of exits and sprinted out the wrong end.
"Everything's a first," coach Jay Wright said. "We're figuring it out."
The Wildcats will quickly get used to the intricacies of their digs.
They already seem quite at home, and as dominant as usual, at the new-look Pavilion.
Eric Paschall scored 26 points, Phil Booth had 17 and No. 9 Villanova opened its national championship defense with a 100-77 win over Morgan State on Tuesday night.

UConn opens Hurley era with 80-70 win over Morehead State
UConn coach Dan Hurley is happy with the energy level of his Huskies, now he'd like to see them develop a killer instinct.
Hurley had a successful coaching debut at his new school Thursday as UConn broke open a close game, then held off a pesky Morehead State team for an 80-70 win.

Villanova coach Jay Wright was raised on Big 5 hoops and considers himself a bit of a keeper of the city series' legacy. He's also quick to warn the Wildcats that anything can happen when Philly teams play at the Palestra.
"It brings me back to childhood," Wright said. "Every time I step in this building, it's a special experience. Once the game comes, I just know crazy things are going to happen. I just expect it."
Winless La Salle came primed for an upset -- but the only unpredictable part of a Villanova game against a city rival is the final score of its latest win. Eric Paschall scored 27 points, Phil Booth had 19 and No. 23 Villanova held off one more upset in an 85-78 win over La Salle on Saturday.

Howard scores 45, Marquette beats No. 12 K-State 83-71
Markus Howard kept attacking the bucket and getting to the foul line against one of the best defensive teams in the country to set Marquette records.
Imagine how good he might have been if he hadn't been recovering from food poisoning.
Howard had 45 points, a Marquette record for a regulation game, and went a school-best 19 of 21 from the free-throw line, his aggressive play setting the tone for Marquette in an 83-71 victory over No. 12 Kansas State on Saturday.

Samuels' 3s lead No. 21 Villanova past Temple 69-59

Seton Hall overcomes half-court shot to stun No. 9 Kentucky
Keldon Johnson caught the ball near center court and heaved in a prayer of a shot at the regulation buzzer that sent Kentucky players and fans into a pulsating frenzy.
Surely now, with all that momentum, the ninth-ranked Wildcats would finally take control in overtime and escape from New York with a hard-fought win.
But this scrappy Seton Hall squad had a lot more left.
Myles Cale hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 9.5 seconds remaining and the Pirates overcame Johnson's half-court fling that tied the score, stunning Kentucky 84-83 on Saturday in a Madison Square Garden thriller.

Marquette is winning games this season in ways that don't have to do with hitting 3s.
They still have perimeter threats like Markus Howard and Sam Hauser. But a renewed focus on defense has given the Golden Eagles a lift this year.
Howard scored 27 points, Hauser added 13 points and 14 rebounds, and Marquette held No. 12 Wisconsin to 21 percent shooting from 3-point range in a 74-69 win in overtime on Saturday.
