Golden Eagles routed by UConn, 69-38

UConn celebrated it's ninth straight regular-season conference title on Wednesday, a championship the players said they appreciate a bit more than they may have in years past.

The Huskies, who clinched the top seed in the Big East Tournament with a 69-38 win over Marquette, had to do it with star Paige Bueckers on the bench injured for much of the season and another seven players missing at least two games with injury or illness.

Bueckers returns as No. 7 UConn routs St. John’s 93-38

UConn’s Azzi Fudd predicted earlier this month that the Huskies would become a “nasty” team once all of its players were healthy.

Star guard Paige Bueckers returned Friday from the left knee injury that had kept her out for more than two months, and No. 7 Connecticut looked like it was living up to Fudd’s expectations in a 93-38 rout of St. John’s.

Maly, Creighton women top Colorado 84-74 in NCAA first round

Morgan Maly and Creighton shot exceptionally well when they held a closed scrimmage on Iowa’s home court last fall.

Those memories returned when the Bluejays were back in the same arena to open the NCAA tournament.

Maly matched a career high with 20 points and Lauren Jensen and Molly Mogensen each had 16 as 10th-seeded Creighton defeated No. 7 seed Colorado 84-74 on Friday in a Greensboro Region first-round game.

Paige Bueckers was back in the starting lineup and No. 2 seed UConn once again dominated its opposition in an NCAA Tournament opener.

#10 Creighton stuns #2 Iowa in second round upset 64-62

Lauren Jensen found a new place last spring when she transferred from Iowa to Creighton.

She came back into her former home on Sunday and knocked her ex-teammates out of the women’s NCAA tournament.

Jensen scored 19 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer with 12 seconds left that lifted No. 10 seed Creighton over Caitlin Clark and second-seeded Iowa 64-62 in a Greensboro Region second-round game.
