    Izzo discusses Gary Harris' future

Gary Harris may hear Michigan State coach Tom Izzo tell him to go pro.

Izzo insisted that if his research leads him to believe Harris would be among the top guards selected in June, he would probably tell the sophomore to enter the NBA draft.

"I'd be leaning to advising him that it's time to make the jump," Izzo said Tuesday.

Izzo met with Harris and the rest of his teammates on Monday, a day after the Spartans were eliminated from the NCAA tournament by Connecticut in the East Regional final.

Izzo plans to talk to NBA executives and agents later this week at the Final Four about Harris and junior Brandon Dawson. He has already heard some favorable feedback about the 6-foot-4 Harris.

    Tom Izzo: Spartans over NBA

Michigan State coach Tom Izzo said he'll remain with the Spartans next season despite rumors that he is a candidate for NBA openings in Minnesota and Detroit.

"First of all, I'm going to be at Michigan State,'' Izzo said Wednesday on ESPNU's College Basketball podcast. "I still listen to things every day in our town about Nick Saban saying I'm not going to be the Alabama coach [when Saban was coach of the Miami Dolphins].

"Nobody knows where any of us are going to be. You have to look at your track record and, over all these years, is this what he's done?"

    Gaston Diedhiou denied

Senegalese standout Gaston Diedhiou has been denied admission by the University of Minnesota because of inadequate marks on his English profiency exams, the Star Tribune reported Tuesday.

Diedhiou, a 6-foot-9 forward who played in the Canary Islands last season, had been granted full qualifier status by the NCAA Clearinghouse, per the publication, but did not get the necessary entrance exam score to be admitted, a source told ESPN.

Wisconsin picked to win Big Ten

Bo Ryan is accustomed to being an underdog, but that won't be the case in 2014-15.

Wisconsin was picked as the unanimous favorite to win the Big Ten championship by a media panel, the league announced at its annual media day Thursday.

The Badgers, who reached the Final Four last season, return four starters and top reserves Nigel Hayes and Bronson Koenig.

    Devin Davis to leave hospital

Indiana University says basketball player Devin Davis was expected to be released Friday from a Bloomington hospital and rehabilitate from a head injury closer to his Indianapolis home.

"He's getting to the point where he will get more strenuous in his therapy,'' Indiana coach Tom Crean said on Friday's ESPNU College Basketball podcast. "There's not a timeline, though. In a nutshell, we were not given any reason that he won't have a full recovery. The timing isn't clear. But no one said he won't be able to play again.''

IU's Tom Crean: Lack of leadership

Tom Crean sent a clear message to Indiana's basketball players Wednesday: It's time to shape up.

"We're not doing a great job in leadership at all," he said.

Two days after announcing three players had been suspended for four games each, Crean spent 45 minutes taking questions about the state of the program, the discipline he has imposed, the reaction of angry fans and how he hopes to avoid any more issues with the school's signature sports program.

    He's going to be tougher.

Duje Dukan to miss 2 games

Wisconsin forward Duje Dukan must sit out the first two games of the season for the No. 3 Badgers following a review of the senior's eligibility.

The school said Wednesday that the issue stems from the 2012-13 season, when Dukan played limited minutes in an exhibition game and a closed scrimmage at the beginning of that year.

Dukan was recovering from mononucleosis at that time and decided after the two contests to take the rest of the season to recover. But Dukan did not qualify for a medical hardship waiver.

Wisconsin said Dukan did nothing wrong.
